IXL Learning, a leading edtech company with products used by 13 million students worldwide, is seeking a Contract Administrator to join our growing team.

The ideal candidate would have a paralegal background with prior experience in contract administration, including tracking and organizing contracts, coordinating contract review and communications, and experience editing/redlining contracts according to guidelines set by IXL management.

This is a full-time position based in either our San Mateo, CA or Raleigh, NC office with a hybrid work schedule.


  • Administration and review of legal documents and customer agreements under supervision of Senior Contracts Administrator

  • Coordinate customer contract review with Legal Counsel, Sales Management, Product, Finance, Customer Support, and Engineering; Edit and revise documents according to guidelines set by IXL management

  • Prepare and disseminate legal document status to appropriate sales team members

  • Maintain version control of all agreements to ensure the most current is returned to sales team and customers

  • Establish and maintain contracts database

  • Work to obtain proper signatures (customer and CEO) on all agreements; Act as liaison with Legal Counsel on new agreements and renegotiated terms

  • Perform customization of standardized agreements at the direction of Sales leadership and Legal Counsel

  • Other tasks as assigned, including assisting with tracking and responding to legal notices and litigation related tasks


  • A certificate of completion or a degree from an approved paralegal program or post- secondary institution with 3-5 years of office, admin, or legal experience; or a baccalaureate degree (business related discipline preferred) with 3-5 years of law related experience

  • Competence in legal/commercial terms relevant to SaaS contracts - such as data privacy, security and SOW's

  • Prior experience in contract administration

  • Prior experience at an education related company or experience with education related laws such as FERPA is preferred

  • Ability to properly handle materials that are highly sensitive and confidential

  • General knowledge of legal terminology and procedures

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others

  • Exceptional ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, in English

  • Ability to work independently and be self-starting

  • Expert knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing systems, records management systems, file organization and maintenance, preparation of standard forms and other typical office procedures and terminology

  • Experience using Salesforce is preferred

The position functions as the liaison between the Department and contracted service provider agencies and serves as the Section's primary point of contact with these providers. <br><br> The position is responsible for the development and execution of RFPs (Request for Proposals) for identified services for targeted juvenile populations statewide and also for the development and negotiation of service provisions in collaboration with the Department's Purchasing and Contracts Section. <br><br> The position ensures compliance with contract terms and costs; conducts monitoring and review of programmatic and fiscal compliance with NCDPS Community Programs policy and contract terms, including site visit inspections/audits to insure compliance. The position requires an ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data for mandated legislative reporting as required by the Fiscal Research and Program Evaluation Division of the General Assembly and for planning long range purposes for the Juvenile Community Programs Section. <br><br> The position also provides consultation, training and guidance on effective juvenile justice program interventions, strategies, and best practice program models designed to impact recidivism reduction for targeted juvenile populations. The position requires strong leadership skills and an ability to effectively communicate in oral, written, and multimedia formats.</p><p>Position hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F, however, the position must respond to incidents occurring outside normal working hours to support contracted vendors in case of emergency/ incident reporting.</p><p>Must possess a valid NC Driver's License for this position which requires extensive day travel with occasional overnight travel for on-site program monitoring.</p><p>Note to Current State Employees:</p><p>The salary grade for this position is NC13.
