As a Continuous Improvement Technician, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency and optimizing manufacturing processes within our organization. This position requires a keen eye for detail, analytical skills, and a commitment to driving continuous improvement initiatives. The primary responsibilities include analyzing manufacturing and quality processes, facilitating Kaizen Events, conducting data gathering, utilizing key tools such as Standardized Work, 5S auditing, time studies, process mapping, and problem-solving methodologies like A3 and 5 Whys, as well as training others on continuous improvement methodologies.

Key Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

Data Gathering:

  • Collect and analyze relevant data to support process improvement initiatives.

  • Perform time studies to understand process durations and identify opportunities for optimization.

  • Utilize statistical methods to identify trends, variations, and areas of improvements.

Process Improvement:

  • Evaluate and analyze existing manufacturing, quality, and warehousing processes, with a focus on extrusion and vacuum forming.

  • Identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall performance.

  • Lead internal projects and collaborate with key stakeholders on changes to production processes, support-function processes, and facility layout.

Kaizen Events:

  • Facilitate and lead Kaizen Events to drive collaborative problem-solving and process improvement.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to implement changes resulting from Kaizen Events.

Key MOS Tools Utilization:

  • Participate in Daily Management to support cross-functional teams.

  • Conduct 5S audits to ensure a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.

  • Utilize problem-solving methodologies such as A3, RPPM, 5 Whys to address challenges and root causes.

Training Others:

  • Support development and deliver training programs on MOS methodologies.

  • Educate and mentor team members on the principles and practices of continuous improvement.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.

Preferred Education and Experience/Skills

  • High School Graduate or GED

  • Technical Associate Degree ideal

  • Basic knowledge of GD&T, blue print reading

  • Knowledgeable of CI methodologies including Kaizen, Problem Solving, 5S, Standardized Work, Process Mapping

  • Intermediate computer skills - knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Teams, SmartSheet, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

Must be able to:

  • Work independently, make decisions, communicate with others

  • Lift, bend and reach, including below waist level and above shoulder level

  • Lift, push and pull weights of up to 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs.occasionally

  • Work on off shifts as required. Primary shift is 1st shift.
