A key focus of the Director, Continuous Improvement and Quality position, is to drive improvements in our manufacturing processes through system/process improvements, while serving as the liaison between Distributive Assembly (DA) operations and other corporate support groups such as: product, sales, and engineering. This position acts as a coach and mentor to direct reports, the DA management team, and employees, pertaining to the successful implementation of the MasterBrand Business System (MBS). Other responsibilities include, implementing proven operational best practices as well as facilitating and leading change through kaizen events. These activities will involve creating and/or coordinating the implementation of new or improved manufacturing processes across the DA network. This position oversees the Quality Management systems & project management for new products or processes, including quality management and oversight of all distribution assembly sites, located in Carlisle, PA, Louisville, KY, Riverside, CA, Lynchburg, VA and Talladega, AL.
Organizational RelationshipPosition reports directly to Leader, Continuous Improvement - Operations and Supply Chain
Champion MasterBrand Business System strategy and provide hands-on support and any necessary training during implementation
Lead effort to implement best practices across plants and/or divisions, ensuring adherence to the principles of lean manufacturing
Developing, maintaining, and guiding staff in state-of-the-art inspection techniques
Guiding plant quality teams through quality improvement/problem solving initiatives
Adherence to company Quality Assurance policies to minimize scrap and rework
Increasing profitability through quality improvements
Capturing and developing actions based on customer feedback
Analyzes all procedures, inspection techniques, inspection equipment, and implements improvements that will aid in inspection effectiveness
Develops, implements, and maintains a statistical Quality Assurance Program that will reduce production stoppages
Trains production employees and managers in statistical techniques
Monitors divisional quality performance in areas of rejects, scrap, rework, vendor performance, etc., including highlighting quality problem areas, recommends and implements solutions
Maintains in-process, receiving, and outgoing inspection systems, equipment, gages, records, and print files, in accordance with company Quality Assurance policies
Participates as a Quality Team member and establishes a leadership role in improving supplier and in-house quality
Reviews all engineering changes and product releases and recommends inspection gages and equipment necessary to effectively ensure that each part or assembly meets or exceeds the tolerances and finishes, and material content specified
Determines proper inspection manning levels and develops and operates within approved budget
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Highly developed problem solving and project management skills
Experience with change management principles and demonstrated ability to drive and manage the change process
Ability to direct and control acceptance and rejection within company Quality Assurance policies of all purchased and fabricated parts through all operations thru Finished Goods or scrapped.
Ability to teach others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with ISO and QS based quality systems.
Advanced knowledge of statistical techniques.
Solid people skills.
Ability to travel up to 50% including internationally is required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or other comparable engineering degree, or related, or equivalent experience
Preferred: minimum of 5 years' experience in various manufacturing/operations roles
5 years of successful experience with lean manufacturing
