Position Overview

The Continuous Improvement Manager will lead process improvement activities for assigned locations including identifying and quantifying opportunities, processing data analysis, successfully executing project management and solution implementation delivering sustained controlled results. Successfully leveraging Lean/DMAIC tools and processes to drive next generation productivity improvements, while supporting all channels of business. This role will directly engage with customers / partners to implement solutions that improve the customer experience.

Job Description

  • Deliver Results as ONE Team Analyze operations to identify, quantify and prioritize actionable areas of opportunity. Develop business cases (problem definition, establishing baselines, KPIs and financial impacts, etc.) for potential projects.

    Engage stakeholders cross functionally ensuring alignment and support for projects. Lead / support broader national and regional projects. Facilitate process improvement activities (e.g.

    Kaizen). Accountable for driving projects and achieving results. Propagate continuous improvement methodology / techniques / mindset across the organization as part of the Supply Chain Center of Excellence.

  • Engage with customers and partners to determine performance challenges and business needs. Participate in customer venues (QBR's, Top 2 Top, location visits, etc.) supporting the long term improvements of KPI's.

    Coach operations leaders to improve processes that result in improved customer experiences.

    Develop, communicate and present results to tailored to the level needed. Coach operations leaders to improve processes that result in improved customer experiences.

    Develop and facilitate training for Green Belt acumen to continue to grow the brand and culture. Partner with Finance operations to ensure financial savings models are vetted, clear, concise and detailed where needed.

  • Be a coach / mentor in the development of CI / LSS capability at all levels in the organization. Act as a resource to support training efforts of operations staff in the use of CI / Lean tools and processes.

    Participate in facility business reviews, providing insight and feedback on how venues can evolve to drive further performance improvements. Be innovative and teach the organization to "think differently" and celebrate great results. Be resilient and courageous by speaking up frequently and candidly to be perceived as "open".


Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or similar field desired.

Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Project Management certifications desired.

Minimum of three years of project management / process improvement experience required, preferably in supply chain environment.

Proficiency with data analysis and basic statistics required (statistical process control, hypothesis testing desired).

Advanced proficiency in MS Excel required, experience with other data systems / software strongly desired (MS Access, Sequel Server, Hyperion, Minitab, MS Project, MS SharePoint, etc.).

Warehouse or transportation management experience (including related ERP system) desired.

Strong multi-tasking, communication and organizational skills. Ability to work well with all levels of team members with different backgrounds and needs.

Other: Experience with Supply Chain, Transportation and Warehouse Operations a plus.

The Coordinator, Clinical Quality Improvement plays a key role in the coordination of organizational performance improvement activities. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the continuous improvement process, including CMS, Joint Commission, and IHI requirements relating to performance improvement. This position interacts with all levels of the organization. Consults with data, clinical, financial, and operational leaders to identify performance improvement opportunities related to quality, people, service, finance, and growth as well as areas of clinical care, patient safety, customer service and workforce vitality. Utilizes critical thinking and decisive judgment to enhance clinical processes and patient outcomes. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Works in a collaborative manner with physicians, administrators, department managers and others to identify and meet the continuous performance improvement requirements of the organization. * Provides education, consultative services and/or technical assistance to hospital departments, Performance Improvement Committees, Service Lines and Performance Improvement Teams. * Facilitates/leads organizational improvement activities utilizing the PDCA improvement methodology. Recommends tools and assists teams throughout the improvement process. * Conducts concurrent review of the literature and websites to provide teams and Service Lines with up to date evidence and best practice recommendations. * Conducts Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA). * Works with Analytics and Business Intelligence (ABI) staff to determine performance metrics for key process and performance improvement initiatives. * Provides support to Medical Staff and Service Line Performance Improvement Committees. * Analyzes data reports and implements process to achieve improved performance. * Assists in the development of storyboards. Prepares graphics for presentation format. * Develops criteria/outcome measures necessary for disease management studies. * Conducts chart review for mortality and morbidity review. * Conducts Root Cause/Intense Analysis of adverse events. * Supports the vision of the Quality Resources Department by establishing performance improvement initiatives that meet the scope, depth and timeline requirements of the requestor. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 2 hours at a time. Frequently uses fingers for typing, data entry, etc. Frequent use of hands. Extensively uses mouse as a computer entry device. Uses upper extremities to lift up to 10 pounds. Rarely stoops, bends, or reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision, peripheral vision and near vision. EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field is required. Master's Degree preferred. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 yrs. experience in clinical care of patients required. Experience in Quality/Performance Improvement preferred. Excellent project management skills.
