Continuous Improvement Engineering Manager

Salary up to $125,000 + Great Benefits & Paid Relocation to Central California

Food Processing Company seeks an energetic & enthusiastic Continuous Improvement professional who has experience in the implementation of Lean initiatives on the operations side at all levels of the manufacturing plant. At this plant, youll be looking at the processing operations, using Lean & CI methodologies to design improvements, communicating the plans, and implementing the changes.

Your main goal is to facilitate improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost and assist in the development of training materials, as well as, planning, facilitating and implementing Kaizen activities. Youll be responsible for daily implementation of Lean tools throughout the plant and will coordinate and lead opportunities for improvement. You can use Fishbone, Value Stream Mapping, Bottleneck Analysis, PDCA, or any other tool in your CI tool box!

We need someone who is passionate about Continuous Improvement and making our plant leaner & more profitable while we increase our quality and do it all safely! We need a great communicator to explain the plans & get everyone on board!

Youll be site Change Agent and Lean SME!

In addition to a salary up to $125,000, youll get big company benefits and a great paid relocation package to Central California! The facility is located in a city large enough to have cool amenities & a social scene, but small enough to be affordable!

Requirements for this Continuous Improvements Engineering Manager position:

At least 3 years implementing Lean and or Continuous improvements in a Food Processing Facility

Bachelors degree, prefer engineering discipline

This position will oversee the procurement of assigned raw materials to support our manufacturing of various food products. The Director of Strategic Sourcing and Continuous Improvement leads the entire Request for Proposal (RFP) development process including planning, managing, and executing proposals for raw materials. This position will be a cross-functional cost leadership role which will interact with procurement, finance manufacturing, quality assurance, product development, sales and marketing and engineering, to maximize overall cost efficiency to drive margin growth.</p> <p><strong>Description of Responsibilities: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Manage the execution of RFPs from beginning to end.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Review and negotiate applicable raw materials for selected RFP’s.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Lead supplier negotiations in the RFP process.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Analysis of risk in developing strategies to procure commodity based raw materials to achieve our objectives to be the low-cost producer in each category.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Cost modeling for value engineering on packaging and formulation; working with Quality and Engineering to achieve cost efficiencies.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Continually optimize the transportation/logistics unit costs and network structure in managing freight costs.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Interact with Quality Assurance (QA) regarding raw material specifications and usage approval.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Achieve an understanding of commodities and how to procure to meet our objectives.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Achieve an understanding of packaging and how to procure to meet our objectives.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Maintain a viable and competitive vendor base.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Maintain a competitive transportation network to support logistics.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Understand customer sales forecasts in procuring raw ingredients and packaging to meet sales needs.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Interact with Quality Assurance (QA) regarding raw material specifications and usage approval.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Qualifications: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelors in Business Administration or a related field is required.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Minimum of 10 years’ experience in supply chain/Procurement in a multi-plant, multi-segment manufacturing industry in the Food Industry.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience in leading a change management program, with specific experience in centralizing Procurement activities and developing related systems/processes/KPIs essential.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Minimum of 10 years in managing RFPs from beginning to end.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience at a more entrepreneurial and fast-paced company preferred.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with strategic sourcing, total cost, including total cost of ownership, life-cycle costs, scenario planning and category and risk management.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Strong background with budgeting, scheduling and vendor management.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Exceptional negotiating abilities.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>High level of proficiency with MicrosoftExcel (e.g. Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, mid-level formulas) and PowerPoint (i.e. proficient creation of content for negotiations and internal executive briefings)</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Understanding of logistics including third party logistics, freight analysis and management.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Proven leadership/management skills with a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
