Job Description: Arconic is seeking a Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager to develop and implement Lean Manufacturing strategies that drive bottom-line improvements in manufacturing operations and related support centers. This role is accountable for building and sustaining Arconic's system of Lean management, known internally as "ABS". Initially, the CI Manager will lead a team of ABS professionals to drive quick Lean improvements in targeted Arconic operations. The CI Manager will be placed in an intensive management training program to learn and then apply Arconic's ABS system before assuming a full-time Continuous Improvement leadership role in an Arconic business.

Essential Functions: The Continuous Improvement Manager position includes both creation of strategic vision and tactical management and execution, examples include but are not limited to:
Ensures a culture is in place that puts the safety and welfare of our employees ahead of all other goals.
Effectively apply all aspects of Arconic's Lean management system in manufacturing facilities and in related support functions.
Partner with Plant Leaders to develop Continuous Improvement strategies that directly support plant Hoshin goals, then implement those strategies on the shop floor including the tools and processes required to sustain the improvements in the future.
Generate productivity savings for plants of at least 5X their annual salary.
Partner with Plant Leaders to develop Continuous Improvement strategies that close key business gaps identified in Plant Hoshins.
Facilitate kaizens and focused C.I. events to implement Hoshin improvement strategies on all shifts working closely with Manufacturing Supervisors and Operator.
Support building a Lean culture by providing training and coaching to plant personnel on Lean theories, methodologies, and standards, with an emphasis on "Learn by Doing". Utilize Train-the-Trainer techniques to transfer knowledge to department resources to enable self-sufficiency to launch future Lean improvements.
Coach line leaders to implement key Lean systems such as: Daily Management, Performance Management, Root-Cause Problem Solving, Process IC&C, VSM, TPM, 5S, Standardized Work, and Leader Standard Work.
Utilize Lean principles and Best Practices to establish new work standards for Machines, Processes, and People, to generate productivity savings, improve quality, and increase OTD.
Deploy TPM strategies and standards to improve equipment reliability, with initial focus on critical or bottleneck equipment.
Develop metrics and dashboard measures that enable the entire plant population to understand key performance indicators and business gaps, and take necessary actions to improve results.
Coordinate with the ABS Center of Excellence to identify and implement best practices from across the Arconic businesses.

Production and Processing Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Engineering and Technology the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Lean Tools The ability to utilize Lean tools to generate meaningful, quantified improvement in: cost reduction, efficiency, reduced inventory, shortened cycle or lead times, improved quality and reliability, on-time delivery, or safety.
Communication the ability to communicate effectively with senior management (written and verbal) in English.
Financial Literacy Understanding of financial and non-financial metrics necessary to achieve Plant and BU Hoshin goals.
Judgment and Decision Making Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Critical Thinking Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Institution
Minimum 5 years of experience implementing Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement programs

A Bachelor or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or Sciences from an accredited institution
Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing on the shop floor in manufacturing operations
Expert knowledge of Lean Manufacturing theories, methodologies, standards, and tools to generate meaningful, quantified improvement in: cost reduction, efficiency, reduced inventory, shortened cycle or lead times, improved quality and reliability, on-time delivery, or safety
Experience in training and coaching plant personnel to achieve productivity savings using Lean principles and tools
Understanding of financial and non-financial metrics necessary to achieve Plant and BU Hoshin goals
Minimum of 1 year of experience in management or Supervisor role(s) in areas of Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Planning, Financial, Manufacturing or Technical areas
Experience in successfully implementing large scale/systemic change efforts across a diverse organization
Experience performing VSM analyses and OEE studies to identify true production bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement
Experience in Six Sigma is considered a plus
