Position Description

Job Summary

Utilizing Lean principles and practices, the Continuous Improvement Engineer assists in driving the overall education and deployment of World Class Manufacturing (WCM), as well as delivering cost reductions to the Orange, CT Omniseal Solutions plant. The position will lead focused improvement projects (cost savings focus, process improvement or basic training) for the site.

The position assists in ensuring a rapid pace of implementation without compromising the quality of WCM standards. As part of the Engineering Team, the incumbent provides technical, WCM and change management expertise to our site to achieve objectives. Using your expertise and soft skills you will develop the sites WCM strategy.

You ensure clear and efficient communications and support with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, tool room, facilities, finance, customer service, capture, and cross functional agile teams. With direction from the Engineering Manager, you provide demonstrable leadership of the WCM program in our plant to ensure WCM is implemented at a rapid pace without compromising the quality of WCM Standards through: • Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement projects. • Train small groups on the WCM philosophy and tools • Develop process control strategies and standards to improve operational efficiency • Assist the plant in the identification and prioritization of cost deployment projects. • As a WCM Subject Matter Expert and Business Partner, provide training, support, and direction to plant teams as appropriate to help them identify, analyze, and solve operational problems • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) relative to the WCM program and report cumulative progress • Serves as a 5S Plant Champion and supports 5S throughout the facility. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will support site pillars as required.

For example, continually drives safe behavior by performing audits and risk assessments and assisting the H&S Pillar leader in loss analysis & prioritization. Essential functions include: • Ability to effectively define problems through data analysis, propose workable solutions to minimize defects and waste. The ability to define and work on data driven six sigma type projects.

Determine statistical process capabilities and implement process control systems designed to improve consistency, product yield, quality, and throughput rates. (20%) • Must be able to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased efficiency, seek and implement innovative methods to optimize process throughput and reduce costs. Chart progress of opportunities within the methodology of the World Class Manufacturing plan, recommending countermeasures to overcome adverse variances. Provide follow up to such recommendations. (20%) • Influences, coordinates, drives and participates in Continuous Improvement and WCM activities.

Acts as a change agent and fosters a WCM and Continuous Improvement Culture. Trains and coaches the plant team in various WCM topics. (40%) • Project Management

  • Project objectives are well defined by manager, and involve the extension of present technology, involving improvement of products, processes and new knowledge with some level of complexity. However, incumbent is intimately involved in formulation and recommendation of project objectives and stakeholder management. Projects are typically small to medium independent projects assigned by manager (20%)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering • 4+ years' experience working in an Engineering capacity in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated technical judgment/accomplishments, project leadership, team collaboration and oral and written communication skills • 3+ years' of knowledge and experience in WCM, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement • Demonstrated positive communication and business acumen • Demonstrated results solving organizational challenges • Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and applications • Lean Six Sigma, World Class Manufacturing Certification or equivalent (preferred) • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with codes and legal regulations. • Strong Solid Works/AutoCAD skills for designing tools and fixtures

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $79,500 to $123,400 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.

The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $87,450 to $135,740. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
