PRIMARY FUNCTION:

As the Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will be in charge of analyzing current production procedures and processes across the areas of Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Logistics and look for means to make the Business processes more efficient while reducing wastes and ideally finding cost savings through lean activities.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To identify and deliver improvement activity across the business through employing process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative thinking

  • Serve as a coach and mentor with all business stakeholders to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing change to improve culture

  • To support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within the business processes.

  • Promote, educate, and lead team members in lean tools, such as Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, SMED, 5S, Flow, Rapid Problem Solving, Total Productive Maintenance, Built in Quality, etc.

  • Facilitate by identification, coaching and training the reduction of the 7(+1) wastes

  • Own and develop the data capture system within the US and any other software and metrics to monitor progress of CI

  • Identify trends and variations from any CI monitoring system

  • Encourage, lead, and coordinate all SMED activities

  • Identify training needs

  • Identify and present potential Lean / Six Sigma projects with a good business case and support projects owned by others

  • Ensure the maintaining of all CI documentation such as SOP and OPL's is conducted to an adequate level

  • Provide ongoing and back up support for the Production & Quality Manager

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field

  • 5+ years' experience working in a lean manufacturing role

  • Trained in Lean disciplines, with demonstrated application of Six Sigma, Kaizen principles, and 5s

  • Effective and engaging interpersonal skills to develop teams and professional relationships, including written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor communications for different levels of the organization

  • Ability to influence other departments who can have an impact on business KPIs

  • Strong facilitator skills

  • Ability to work both independently and with others

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

  • Professional approach with an appreciation of confidentiality and discretion

  • Flexible approach to work

Working Environment :

  • Plant-based, manufacturing environment

  • Clean room manufacturing, requires appropriate protective gear

  • This role is expected to be on-site 5 days per week, manager discretion for any periodic remote working needs

  • Hearing, eye, and foot protection may be required on the shop floor
