Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross' portfolio and was acquired in January 2016.

Job Summary

This position will utilize Continuous Improvement methodologies to help develop, facilitate and lead safety, environmental, operational and engineering improvement initiatives at an operating gold mine, continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' goals and values. In this high-profile role, the analyst/facilitator will use data to develop strategic business insights and communicate findings to site management to support comprehensive decision-making.

Essential Functions

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts throughout all mine departments.

  • Implement effective measurement tools associated with continuous improvement tracking and sustainability of improvements.

  • Work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.

  • Able to learn new software packages and develop new skills as needed.

  • Conduct evidence-based analysis to help business improvement teams prioritize, analyze root causes, and identify cost savings opportunities.

  • Develop automated optimization tools (scorecards, dashboards, reporting, performance charts).

  • Support and lead improvement efforts in existing processes, including reducing variation and non-value added work.

  • Facilitate and oversee training/workshops to identify cost-cutting and efficiency improvement opportunities and set priorities.

  • Provide advice on resources and support needed to create and capitalize improvement opportunities for the site.

  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to, safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.

  • Meets or exceed established performance expectations set by management.

  • Training of departmental teams to track benefits of improvement initiatives.

  • Develop presentations to summarize progress of projects and provide updates to site and corporate personnel.

  • Creating and maintaining a customer service approach within departments including maintaining/improving open communication and feedback to encourage employees' participation in site improvement efforts.

  • Acquire deeper knowledge of CI concepts and tools.

  • Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • 2 years' experience in Continuous Improvement activities. (Mining experience preferred but not necessary)

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong analytical skill set, including ability to identify and manage data, execute quality control, build Excel models, and extract correct business insights and implications.

  • Ability to break down problems into different elements to identify root cause and proper mitigation steps.

  • Effectively communicate business insights and realistic solutions using both written and verbal communications.

  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to organize and manage projects with positive results.

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, including an ability to connect and work with all levels of employees and management.

  • A combination of field and office work is required.

  • Ability to manage time and work efficiently to achieve deadlines.

  • Must be 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Skills

  • Formal training in CI methodologies. (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

  • Experience in operations management or supervision of frontline employees, preferably in a mining environment.

  • A general understanding of aspects of mining operations, including processing and maintenance.

  • Administrative and technical writing skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cloud technology Business Analyst to come in at the beginning of Barrick's Oracle HCM Cloud journey and play an instrumental role in establishing and defining the team's structure and processes, and driving change within the business.
