The Continued Operational Safety Engineer supports the company's In-service Safety Program, applying engineering experience to monitor in-service fleet performance, identify, assess and mitigate potential safety issues and recommend safety enhancements in Honda Aircraft Company products. This position will also assist in company incident/accident investigation efforts and manage safety program data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Guide team members across the organization to identify continued operational safety issues; provide direction for investigation, analysis and determination of causal factors
Assist integrated product teams in developing recommendations for corrective/preventive actions, facilitate corrective action response.
Provide safety risk analyses for in-service issues; evaluate effectiveness of proposed risk mitigation strategies; present findings and recommendations to company managers.
Assist company Air Safety Investigators by providing supporting data and leading factory team investigation and analysis in support of aircraft event investigations.
Occasionally assist in field phase of aircraft event investigations, with eventual qualification as alternate Air Safety Investigator.
Record, organize and analyze in-service safety data; provide ongoing audit of program effectiveness.

Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two or more years aeronautical engineering experience required, seven years experience preferred, specifically working with light or corporate jet aircraft systems, maintenance and/or flight operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of aircraft design principles and aeronautical engineering practices.
Familiarity with system safety engineering and analytical techniques.
Ability to coordinate a team of technical experts to investigate potential aircraft safety issues, provide timely analysis and develop effective corrective actions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in preparing technical reports.
Ability to communicate knowledgeably and effectively with various levels of management, regulatory agency personnel, and technical experts.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
