Position Summary

The Content Localization Specialist, as a member of the Content team based out of the Duluth, GA office, will manage the publishing process of technical documentation in multiple languages, as well as maintaining documentation repositories for internal and external audiences. The position involves preparing and curating source documents in English, editing language structures to facilitate translation, creating translation assets (style guides, term databases, etc.) and performing QA for translation deliveries. The candidate works closely with vendors to coordinate the localization process.

Essential Duties

  • Content preparation, translation, localization and publication for all of Vecima's customer-facing materials; both in print and online.

  • Test and vet translated content to ensure it is applicable to the target culture's audience.

  • Assist with facilitating user experience testing of localized content.

  • Improve applications through reviews of localized content.

  • Help drive a vision for our products content across all platforms.

  • Prepares source content for translation and localization, along with translation assets such as glossaries, term databases and style guides.

  • Publishes documentation for software products and training materials in multiple languages.

  • Coordinates the translation and localization process, works with translation vendors to answer queries, select terminology, maintain translation memories and provide feedback on translation deliverables.

  • Reviews translated content to validate accuracy, proper use of terminology and style guides, and provides translation feedback.

  • Provides translations in Japanese (and other languages, if qualified) and provides linguistic review and editing for translation deliverables from vendors.

  • Manages content repositories for current documentation and knowledge bases, archives, public information and information with restricted access.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Translation, Technical Writing,Communication, Marketing, or related field; or, equivalent knowledge from at least 4 years of similar work experience in a Software Engineering, IT or Content Delivery industry

  • Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese at a business level, including proficiency in writing and cultural acumen

  • Ability to communicate and customize technical content for different audiences

  • Editorial background and proofreading skills

  • Experience in developing and adhering to editorial and technical style guides and evangelizing their use

Technical requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Confluence (or equivalent software) required; Madcap Flare, video production, and CAT tools a plus.

  • Basics of HTML, CSS, wiki publishing and UX design required; basic knowledge of SEO and JavaScript a plus.

  • Experience working with Technical Support or software development teams is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with IT terminology, content delivery networks, or software-defined storage is highly desirable.
