Content and Copy Writer and Editor
Please note: This position is in anticipation of a vacancy award.*
This position will provide professional copy writing and editing services. Under general supervision, creates and edits attention grabbing, informative text and resources. Assists in crafting and communicating key messages and producing related informational products.
Writes, proofreads and edits clear and persuasive copy for announcements, fact sheets, summary briefs, articles, web pages, newsletters, white papers, guides, tool kits, assessment instruments, reports, presentations, audio recordings and videos.
Explores and develops unique, new concepts and methods of communication.
Develops and updates pertinent information to review team members and other entities upon a customer's request.
Develop ways to enhance the current system for routinely communicating information with staff about review related procedures and findings.
Maintains a Review Planning Package for distribution to States and review team members, with content of the package will be determined in consultation with staff.
Develops electronic updates related to distribution and posting on websites as directed by the customer.
Assists in developing a consistent process for scheduling and facilitating conference calls with States, other staff and/or training and technical assistance providers.
Drives the creation of original concepts that result in effective and compelling communication.
Understands different language styles that appeal to various target markets.
Develops and maintains a clear and consistent brand voice.
Delivers products on very short notice and within tight time frames to respond to immediate needs.
Working more than 40 hours per week may be required to meet project deadlines.
Physically able to participate and present in training sessions, presentations and meetings.
Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with clients, stakeholders, vendors or off-site personnel/management.
Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, English, business, or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience.
Knowledge & Experience:
Proven work experience in copywriting.
Experience with web markup language.
Familiarity with commonly used style guides.
Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard software applications typically used in a corporate office environment.
Certification in copyediting, copywriting and SEO copywriting a plus.
