I. Job Summary

Under general supervision, applies appropriate welds to fabricate or repair compactors, containers and carts.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following tasks.

  • Performs minor repairs and applies basic welding processes.

  • Repairs compactors, containers and carts.

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections, diagnostic and repair of electrical and hydraulic systems on compactors.

  • Qualified in the welding processes such as arc welding, gas welding, aluminum welding, brazing, and soft soldering on a variety of materials.

  • Conducts safety checks on compactors and containers.

  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing compactors and containers, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

  • Assists senior welders in the completion of project work.

  • Performs service calls for compactor repair.

  • Performs related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, notching of metal and plastic parts.

  • Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).

  • Works from prints, drawings and verbal instructions.

  • Performs standard layouts and set-ups of dimensions and tolerances.

  • Utilizes standard shop hand tools, measuring devices and equipment.

  • Performs other maintenance related work as required.

  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.

  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Not required.

  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • Required: Valid driver's license.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Basic skills in welding techniques; knowledge of safety procedures and practices necessary while operating or repairing compactors, containers and carts; skill in operating tools equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and servicing of compactors, containers and carts; skill in repair of special purpose equipment; ability to perform repairs on a variety of compactors, containers and carts; and ability to utilize fleet maintenance software program may be required.

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc) most of the work day;

This position will report to the Area Lead and / or the Production Manager in our Reno, NV manufacturing facility. Responsibilities: * Operates welding equipment for Heli-Arc, Short Arc, and TIG * Periodically operates cutting torch and horizontal band saw * Uses jigs and fixtures to weld frames out of carbon steel, stainless steel, and some exotic metal * Welds different metal components together to meet drawing requirements * Uses weld sequencing to ensure the end product meets customer requirements * Studies blueprints, work orders and manufacturing instructions to determine location and processes for welding metal * Inspects and qualifies the work shown on the print or drawing * Cleans up welds and preps components using pneumatic and electric grinders and enclosed sandblasting booth Qualified incumbent must be available for extended weekly overtime and/or weekend shifts Requirements Qualifications: * High School Diploma or Equivalent, required; trade or technical school, preferred * Must be able to pass an in-house welding test and be able to demonstrate welding proficiency * Must be able to use measurement tools including tape measure, calipers, and functional gages * Must be able to read and interpret blueprints * Must read, write, and speak English * Must have excellent communication skills * Must be able to pass respiratory certification test Physical Requirements: * Standing required for up to 100% of working shift * Occasionally is required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch * Must be able to lift or move up to 35 pounds regularly Work Authorization No calls or agencies please.
