Performs a wide variety of clerical and administrative support to Consumer and Commercial Loan Officers. Coordinates the processing of approved new consumer loans.

Assembles and verifies loan documents for accuracy. Conducts loan closings. Exercises independent judgment under moderate supervision. Conducts relationships and activities consistent with established Bank policies, procedures and systems, the corporate code of conduct, Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide administrative assistance to the loan officer and staff, including assembling of documentation for consumer loans, and closing loans with the customer. Sometimes may also perform commercial loan functions.

Ensure that loan files contain documents with proper signature, dates and other relevant data. Assemble and verify accuracy of loan documentation.

Check documents for proper vesting, legal descriptions, closing dates and signatures. Report any exceptions promptly and prior to disbursement.

Maintain new and paid consumer loan files. Update and maintain proper insurance documentation.

Perform variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures. Use office computers for data input and other activities, and order credit reports.

Extension, Modification, and Deferral Agreements:

Prepare new documents and present to consumer loan officer for review.

Maintain follow-up system to ensure documents are returned in a timely manner.

Update records and verify that files are complete and accurate.

Prepare transactions, reports, correspondence, memos, and perform other clerical/administrative duties in an accurate manner.

Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding the status of loans in process, technical exceptions, loan documents and other banking-related questions.

Handle phone calls, take messages, schedule appointments and meetings, and assist with meeting preparation.

Remain alert for and report potential business opportunities. Provide accurate product information and actively seek cross-sell opportunities; make appropriate business referrals to other departments.

Establish, implement and maintain methods and procedures to assure all loan actions are processed correctly and timely.

Consistently demonstrate proficiency in providing exemplary customer service in person and by telephone. Maintain a friendly, positive, and professional attitude. Resolve difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.

Operate a variety of office administration equipment such as PC, typewriter, copy machine, FAX machine, calculator, printer, etc. Utilize computer software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, Outlook, credit bureau, consumer loan system and Internet.

Advise loan officer of problems with procedures, policies, improper calculations, deadlines, and other problems.

Maintain neat and orderly work area and ensure that all confidential records are secured and/or disposed of properly.

Attend all required training.

Assist others in the department as needed and/or directed. May be assigned other duties and responsibilities. May be assigned work or training at other assigned locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Actively call on prospective customers and referral contacts. Actively develop residential mortgage referrals by developing relationships with realtors, builders, developers and other potential referral sources. Interview loan applicants to develop information concerning their, needs, desire, abilities and earnings to determine whether a loan may be an acceptable risk. Evaluate the financial condition of the client, the value of the proposed collateral, and recommend the terms and conditions of the loan. Make decision on loans and terms if within own lending limits. Ensures optimum profitability balanced with acceptable risk. Responsible for the attainment of loan objectives to include, but not limited to, origination, portfolio management, delinquency, loan losses, fee income, interest income, and return on assets. Actively participate in STEP program; attend appropriate sales and STEP training; utilize STEP program initiatives. Make referrals to other business units for traditional and non-traditional banking products and services. Under the direction of the Mortgage Loan Department Head, establish daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly business development, sales and referral goals. Develop a marketing plan utilizing effective STEP sales techniques that will generate additional new residential mortgage loans. Maintain personal accountability for sales and service standards and for meeting business development, sales and referral goals. Identify opportunities to deepen our relationship with customers and referral contacts that have a minimal relationship but offer upside potential and aggressively sell to this customer base. Actively call on prospective customers, exploring needs and cross-selling and recommending bank products and services that are in the best interest of the customer and that achieve their financial objectives. Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of compliance and regulatory issues relating to loan policy and procedures (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, CRA, Fair Lending, etc.) evidenced by appropriate application of these regulations in day-to-day operations.
