Consumer Loan Operations Specialist

Job Description

Summary:

The Loan Operations Specialist will work in a team focused on different aspects of the post-closing loan lifecycle including funding, boarding, servicing, and payoff. Loan Operations Specialists will work with third-parties, lending teams, and other operational departments to ensure excellent internal and external customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for processing all monetary aspects of funding loans including initial and subsequent disbursements, other types of draws, and processing of transactions associated with purchased and sold participations

  • Reconciles general ledger and operational accounts

  • Review loan documentation for completeness and accuracy in order to book loans and credit cards to the core processing system and onboard the loan into other applications and internal tracking systems used by lending teams and other loan operation associates

  • Identify critical original documentation needed for preservation and loan maintenance and monitoring needed pursuant to loan documentation and other lending guidelines

  • Responsible for all aspects of servicing loans and credits cards including but not limited to customer service, loan and collateral maintenance (rate/payment changes, availability, calculation and billing of additional fees, insurance, taxes, trailing documents, etc.)

  • Administer loan escrow accounts and payments, payoff requests, lien releases, credit bureau reporting and tasks associated with tax reporting

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven experience working in a fast paced, high volume, customer-centric environment

  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and ability to demonstrate critical thinking

  • Proficient in the use of technology including loan origination and core banking systems

  • Detail oriented and well organized

  • Ability to work both independently as self-starter and in a collaborative team environment

  • Motivated and open to change

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of banking or financial services industry experience required or Bachelor's or Associate's Degree with equivalent experience

Computer and Software Skills:

  • Proficient with using Microsoft Office products

  • Familiar with Google-based products (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) preferred

  • Experience with Salesforce, nCino, or FIS Bankway is a plus

  • None

Additional Information:

  • Able to work a flexible work schedule including overtime as well as travel as needed

Your primary responsibility is to ensure a positive total customer experience while originating consumer loans, completing loan applications, developing strong customer relationships and meeting sales goals. Keys to success include a professional demeanor, outgoing/positive attitude, reliable and excellent oral and written communication skills. Typical base pay for a Consumer Loan Specialist is $25,500 to $27,000 with an uncapped monthly bonus opportunity. Job responsibilities are as follows: * Actively identifies opportunities to originate new loan business with new and existing customers * Evaluates customer needs to recommend the best consumer loan and voluntary product solutions * Completes loan applications, proposals and offers for new borrowers and follows up with pending applicants * Assists potential borrowers by explaining the loan process, answering questions regarding loan products and loan processing * Takes ownership of customer concerns and works with management to formulate and execute strategies for potential problem loans * Closes loans, assembles loan folders, and breaks down files * Consistently meets or exceeds loan goals * Responsible for day-to-day servicing of an ever-growing, complex consumer loan portfolio * Applies analytical skills to quickly and efficiently resolve any customer issues * Processes insurance claims, follow-ups and payments daily and maintains insurance log according to state requirements * Provides excellent customer care through daily transactions, customer inquiries and problem resolution * Adheres to corporate, legal, and regulatory policies, guidelines, and requirements regarding compliance * Answers incoming phone calls; checks branch's voicemail * Assists Branch Manager with miscellaneous operational tasks such as daily initialization, preparing daily deposit and importing live checks * Effectively builds trust with customers and internal staff by embodying and demonstrating the philosophy of the organization, including core values, company policies, operational procedures and compliance Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent * Minimum of 1 year of sales experience (i.e., retail sales, goal-oriented or incentive based) * Creative problem solving, analytical decision making, organization and time management skills * Professional demeanor, positive attitude, strong communication and customer relations skills; This position requires frequent interaction with our customers * Ability to work in a high-performing, fast-paced, goal-oriented, team environment * Must be able to successfully navigate priorities while paying close attention to details * Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows & Microsoft Office * Must meet our acceptable standards for criminal background history, credit history and pass a pre-employment drug screen * Must be able to meet the eligibility requirements for insurance licensing in order to sell voluntary insurance products.
