Overview

The Consumer Loan Documentation Specialist III documents and processes community banking loans, which includes consumer residential loans, consumer non-residential and small business loans and ensures loans are documented accurately, efficiently, timely and in accordance with Bank and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize loan documentation software to prepare documents for consumer mortgage loans, HELOC's, consumer non-residential and small business loans.

  • Confirm the loan has the proper approval, complies with loan policy, meets the terms of the written loan approval and that all applicable regulatory requirements have been met.

  • Review and evaluate applications submitted and verify completeness of applicant data.

  • Order and review title commitments, appraisals, flood determinations, evidence of insurance coverage and verification of employment and ensure any invoices are received.

  • Analyze loan-to-value ratio, debt-to-income, credit report, application, income, assets, source of down payment funds and examine supporting documentation prior to assignment of file for underwriting.

  • Prepare and review all loan disclosures and documents in accordance with bank and regulatory guidelines, verify files for completeness and accuracy prior to loan submission for review.

  • Collaborate with Bankers, Assistants, outside counsel, Credit Underwriting team and Senior Credit Risk Officers as needed, to facilitate and coordinate loan closings.

  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner to Bankers and Assistants, errors and/or comments and required corrections needed on draft loan and supporting documents; perform second check of loan documentation package prior to closing.

  • Confirm loan documents have been fully executed at closing.

  • Facilitate loan funding and ensure fees are paid.

  • Prepare loans for booking.

  • Document collateral exceptions, as well as incomplete and trailing documents to track on tickler system.

  • Review and evaluate loans reviewed by Documentation Specialists and document results.

  • Effectively manage and prioritize loan pipeline to ensure all requests are processed according to service level agreements.

  • Make recommendations for management to establish strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, mortgage, and operations information; identify and evaluate trends; define objectives and evaluate outcomes and adjust direction as needed.

  • Maintain regulatory and technical knowledge of mortgage loans by completing training opportunities and courses.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert and resource for team members, Bankers and Loan Assistants; demonstrate advanced knowledge of products, regulatory requirements and solutions.

  • Build and maintain consumer Encompass standard products.

  • Interact with internal and external clients while providing extraordinary service.

  • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.

  • Represent the Bank and Loan Services team in a highly professional manner.

  • Complete job assignments in a professional, timely and efficient manner; organize and prioritize work.

  • Maintain confidentiality; adhere to CrossFirst Bank policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Reliable and predictable attendance; both onsite and remote.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of similar or related consumer and/or mortgage documentation experience required.

  • Substantial working knowledge of consumer loan documentation and residential real estate lending products (conventional, HELOC's, home improvement and real estate improved/unimproved).

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of bank products, services and operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workflow and projects as well as function well in a team-based environment.

  • Demonstrated success in a multi-task environment with attention to detail and follow through.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with office automation equipment, including phones, computers, scanners and related loan processing/banking software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
