As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. The vision for the Consumer Lending business is to leverage technology and data to make it simple for customers to easily access credit when and where they need it. Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices, as well as online and digital channels.

The Consumer Lending CRO is currently seeking a Consumer Credit Officer who will be responsible for Unsecured Credit Card line strategy development and monitoring including the following major activities:

  • Develop credit line and cash line strategies for various segments, build business cases to enhance risk management, customers experience and contribute to sustainable and profitable business growth;

  • Conduct comprehensive analyses to assure timely monitoring of strategy efficacy and accuracy, minimizing credit/operating losses and reputation/compliance risk exposure;

  • Partner closely with product/marketing, system & technology, finance, compliance and other Card business areas to develop risk criteria and propose new strategies;

  • Collaborate with various credit, deposit and product groups and external vendors to develop effective ways to manage new account decisions, leveraging best practices and new data/tools;

  • Prioritize tasks based on importance and urgency and provide business case development to obtain timely approval;

  • Manage the rollout of pilot programs and criteria changes that present risk;

  • Create and share monitoring reporting and diagnostics on various credit, vintage, product, offer, channel, mix, delinquency, loss rate, usage/revenue and profitability performance information informing line strategy decisions;

  • Prepare and present project summary and insights to senior managers to garner support and approval

The desired individual will be self-motivated and have strong interpersonal skills in order to actively manage risk while leading and implementing ideas in a cross-functional team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk role

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) skills

  • Experience delivering results in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

  • Ability to translate and summarize complex data into understandable, actionable information and recommendations

Other Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years credit underwriting, risk management, or comparable position with a credit product

  • Prior experience in a credit card risk management role in unsecured lending, especially acquisition underwriting and line assignment

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with all levels of audience

  • Proven experience successfully working in a change driven environment

  • Strong SAS and SQL data processing skills

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time

CCS Risk Management is looking for an experienced Credit Portfolio Consultant to support collections strategy & analytics, reporting and strategy implementation. This includes using analytics and other tools to re-develop and monitor collections and recovery strategies, provide collections oversight and be able to explain the impact of collections performance on delinquency trends as well as working with operations teams to implement operational best practices via test and control approaches. Qualified candidates must have excellent communication skills, high degree of initiative, strong partnering and interpersonal skills, solid project/process management skills, as well as critical analytical thinking and SAS coding skills. Qualified candidates must also possess a results driven attitude committed to quality work.
