Job Description:

The Correspondent Compliance Associate is responsible for conducting compliance related monitoring and ongoing analysis of the line of business' compliance with mortgage originations and consumer protection based regulations for the firm's Correspondent Lending channel. The successful candidate will have a regulatory skillset and assist the business by advising on federal and state regulation implementation, conducting annual compliance risk assessments, participating in the evaluation of compliance impacted issues and action plans, and reviewing new and enhanced mortgage products and business initiatives. A proactive approach to assessing and managing compliance risk is a key attribute required for this role.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Assess and plan for large scale regulatory implementations, such as Reg X, TRID, and HMDA

  • Develop, execute, and document monitoring of compliance with key federal and state regulations in accordance with the firm's compliance monitoring guidelines

  • Review new and changed regulations for applicability to specific areas within Correspondent Lending

  • Assess the effectiveness of procedures created to comply with new and changed regulations

  • Assist in internal audit and regulatory exam preparation

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of new and updated federal and state laws and regulations

  • Assess compliance impact of critical systems implementations and enhancements

  • Assess compliance impact of new or enhanced products as they are reviewed through formal governance functions

  • Build dynamic relationships with associated business partners, legal, control, and risk functions

  • Work as a proven compliance professional with minimal supervisory guidance

  • Oversee effective business issue resolution with regard to compliance impacted issues

Qualifications / Work Experience /

Knowledge:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Knowledge of Correspondent Lending practices

  • Regulatory compliance experience preferred

  • Knowledge of federal laws and regulations governing the mortgage banking industry (including but not limited to HMDA, RESPA, TILA (TRID), FCRA, GLBA, SCRA, FDPA, HOPA, etc.)

  • Knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, and VA guidelines

  • Strong research skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Project management Skills

  • CRCM certification beneficial
