Compliance plays a critical role in the successful execution of the firm's mission. The Compliance function supports the development and maintenance of a strong regulatory compliance culture by working closely with the Business, Legal, Risk, Controls, and Audit functions to provide expertise on regulatory compliance matters. The Compliance function develops and maintains practices to identify, measure, manage, and remediate regulatory related risks, monitors and tests the operating effectiveness of the Firm's Compliance Core Practices.


Position Description /

Responsibilities:
  • Execution of a complex Compliance program to manage regulatory exposure. The candidate may provide Compliance coverage for several areas, as well as serve as the team's subject matter expert for specific regulations.

  • Staying abreast of the evolving regulatory landscape governing the credit card industry to provide Compliance guidance to the Card business on regulatory risks associated with new, existing or revised credit card products or services.

  • Provide critical and analytical thinking in the assessment of risk, creation of monitoring and testing to identify Compliance risks, provide guidance and escalate as necessary.

  • Understand and execute monitoring and testing practices to be in compliance with JPMC's compliance monitoring guidelines to provide a holistic compliance risk coverage.

  • Have the ability to work both independently and as a core team member, exhibiting strong relationship management and negotiation skills.

This role supports the Card Compliance team for the effective execution of the firm-wide Compliance Program, which includes the execution of the following Compliance Core Practices: Governance and Oversight, Regulatory Management, Policies and Procedures, Training and Awareness, Monitoring and Testing (inclusive of metrics), Issue Management, Risk Assessment and Reporting, Risk Control Self-Assessment.

Desired Background and/or Training:

Experienced professional with a strong compliance or regulatory background, and must currently be at the VP level. Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience required.

Incumbents typically have a minimum of 5 years banking experience and 5 years experience in Compliance, Legal, Risk, Control or Audit. Excellent decision maker with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written and attention to detail required. Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or equivalent certification preferred.

The Home Lending Originations Senior Compliance Officer is responsible for conducting compliance related monitoring and ongoing analysis of the line of business' compliance with mortgage originations and consumer protection based regulations for the Firm's branch based and on-line lending channels. The successful candidate will have a strong regulatory skillset and assist the business by advising on federal and state regulation implementation, conduct annual compliance risk assessments and participate in the evaluation of compliance impacted issues and action plans, new and enhanced mortgage products and business initiatives. A proactive approach to assessing and managing compliance risk is a key attribute required for this role. Functional Responsibilities: * Ability to assess and functionally plan for large scale regulatory implementations, such as Reg X, TRID and HMDA * Develops, executes and documents monitoring of compliance with key federal and state regulations in accordance with the Firm's Compliance Monitoring guidelines * Review new and changed regulations for applicability to specific processing areas within Home Lending * Assess the effectiveness of procedures created to comply with new and changed regulations * Assist in internal audit and regulatory exam preparation * Maintains knowledge and understanding of new and updated federal and state laws and regulations * Assess compliance impact of critical systems implementations and enhancements * Assess compliance impact of new or enhanced products as they are reviewed through formal governance functions. * Build dynamic relationships with associated business partners, legal, control and risk functions. * Execute as a proven compliance professional with minimal supervisory guidance. * Oversee effective business issue resolution with regard to compliance impacted issues. Qualifications / Work Experience / Knowledge: * Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in former mortgage compliance roles * Mortgage Banking Originations and Regulatory Compliance experience (3-5 years) * Extensive knowledge of federal laws and regulations governing the mortgage banking industry (including but not limited to HMDA, RESPA, TILA (TRID), FCRA, GLBA, SCRA, FDPA, HOPA, etc.) * Understanding of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA and VA guidelines * Strong research skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint * Strong Project Management Skills * CRCM certification beneficial.
