Facebook is looking for an experienced Consumer Communications Manager to join the Consumer Communications Team. The team's mission is to bring Facebook's community-driven mission to life through proactive storytelling, programs and partnerships.

In this role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to create and support proactive public relations campaigns, product launches as well as programs around Facebook's mission to build community and its core products. The person will focus on consumer outlets, and must have very strong relationships with the press.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate an ability to work cross-functionally and oversee proactive and reactive consumer communications programs with tangible results. Candidates should be adept at identifying and working with third-party advocates for storytelling opportunities. A strategic, creative and resourceful communicator, able to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously will be successful.

The position is a full-time position located at our San Francisco, California or Menlo Park, California.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build relationships and engage with consumer press, bloggers, and influencers

Enhance awareness of Facebook and our core products and programs in consumer press outlets

Identify, create and execute opportunities to connect community leaders on Facebook with consumer press to drive our community narrative

Work as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously

Help manage external Public Relations agencies

Organize press briefings, media sessions and events, with little oversight or guidance

Prepare briefing materials

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience in communications and/or journalism
    2+ years of experience in managing or working with agencies and contractors

Bachelors degree in communications or similar field

Experience with strategic communications, executive communications, project management, thought leadership and supporting public facing opportunities

Experience in project management or programs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in both agency and in-house communications experience

Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully, both autonomously and as part of a broader team

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and ability to lead multi-stakeholder projects

FISC is responsible for the supervision and regulation of state member banks, bank holding companies, and foreign banking organizations. In this role you will have responsibility for the risk-focused supervision of a portfolio of these organizations and for the development of a team of examiners. Core responsibilities include: develop of high performing and fully effective financial institution supervisors; project management; review of work products, and; motivation and mentoring of team members. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills who can interact across the organization, deliver value to the institutions under supervision, and support FISC more broadly through special projects, target examination work, and participation in working groups and/or committees. Major Duties and Job Responsibilities * Maintain strong knowledge of banking and regulatory environments, particularly as related to consumer protection laws and regulations. * Ensure the effective risk-focused oversight of companies under supervision. * Supervise and direct the activities of staff to meet the business needs of the organization and to fulfill individual career-development objectives. * Demonstrate the ability to think strategically and align Unit goals and objectives with the broader Division and Bank strategic direction and goals. * Lead, encourage and motivate direct reports to accomplish the goal of becoming a commissioned examiner and/or to fulfill individual career-development goals. * Lead team members in the successful execution of their work and manage associated risk. * Set priorities, ensuring accountability, reviewing work products, facilitating talent management & succession planning, assessing development needs, and delivering coaching to ensure continuous development of skills, competencies, and talent pipeline. * Oversee the skill development and ongoing education of staff to ensure continuous improvement of their confidence, competence, and capability in appropriately supervising district institutions. * Ensure that team deliverables are completed timely, consistently and within our high quality standards. * Demonstrate effective project management planning, execution, and completion. Position Requirements and Qualifications * An applicant for employment must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or hold a permanent resident/green card with intent to become a U.S. Citizen. * A valid driver's license is required. * A bachelor's degree is required; a major in business, economics, finance, accounting, or a related field is helpful. * A master's degree is preferred. * An active examiner commission issued by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is required. * Travel required to provide oversight of field examination staff. * A minimum of six years of direct or comparable banking-, financial-industry- or banking-supervision experience required. * A minimum of five years of experience in the supervision of staff or previous management or examiner-in-charge positions preferred.
