The Business Development Officer is responsible for delivering superior financial and sales results while leading Seacoast Bank's market presence in the local community. This individual is responsible for outbound business calling in the Community Bank arena. Responsible to lead the activities of branch profitability with particular emphasis on loan and core deposit growth while maintaining expense control.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

College degree in a financial related discipline or 1-5+ years in bank managerial experience and/or Retail Business/Department Manager with previous sales experience.

Working Business Acumen and Financial Literacy in Retail Banking.

Proficient in all lending products and maintains an active NMLS registration status.

Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations

  • Resolves more difficult customer objections, and solves problems in a positive manner to retain the customer relationship.

  • Seeks Senior/Executive management guidance on complex financial matters and responds to management direction.

  • Adheres to Seacoast National Bank's Code of Conduct.

  • Able to effectively discuss, process and close all types of lending products.

  • Works with team to effectively manage the branch "book of business" for expanding existing relationships.

Sales & Quality Customer Experience

  • Provides an exceptional customer experience by adhering to the Standards for Excellence in Customer Service (separate document).

  • A focus on significant relationships for retention, expansion and acquisition.

  • Measures self against standard of excellence.

  • Exhibits good listening skills and speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.

  • Able to balance business needs with customer requests while managing potential risk to bank.

  • Actively building market share, wallet share and developing opportunities using a planned outbound business calling strategy.

  • Maintain active leadership role in the community and will be recognized as a community leader (i.e. Project leader, board member, event chair, etc.) Leverage these opportunities for business expansion while understanding importance of return on investment (ROI).

Team Engagement

  • Provide leadership to associates in order to align tasks to meet daily objectives.

  • Maintains product line proficiency utilizing all educational/training resources available

  • Provides sales coaching and guidance to associates in recognizing referral opportunities to other line of business partners.

  • Develops trusting & cooperative working relationships with customers and associates. Contributes to a positive working environment.

  • Actively participates in bank wide initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities: * Develops strategies to originate SBA loans in the marketplace * Calls on and develops a referral network with commercial real estate brokers, business brokers, business/professional associations, accountants, lawyers, etc. to solicit SBA loan opportunities * Presents the company's loan capabilities * Structures SBA loan proposals, completes initial underwriting and prepares credit package. * Responsible for the success and growth of assigned sales territory * Responsible for the sales life cycle, including lead generation and sourcing, loan policies and structure, product knowledge and financial analysis Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company.
