About the role:

The Sustainability Consulting Technician will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental compliance, sustainability programs, and strategies aligning with global R&D Center in Gaithersburg, MD as part of the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) team. Partner with internal stakeholders to address environmental opportunities and gather information for environmental reports. Support waste reduction initiatives and other programs at the Gaithersburg campus to enable ongoing research, development, clinical supply manufacturing, and business operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and aggregate data/information for environmental compliance and sustainability reports to support performance reporting, benchmarking and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement of the environmental programs and assist in compliance and sustainability reviews of new projects.

  • Work effectively to manage & deliver projects in a team environment, including in-depth collaboration between SHE, Site Operations (Facilities, Engineering, Lab Operations, Workplace Services)

  • Analyze historical event data, leading indicators, and in-field observations and provide recommendations based upon analysis.

  • Develop and update environmental procedures and facilitate environmental training programs.

  • Assist with implementation of ISO14001 Environmental Management Program.

  • Track and assist with relevant actions pertaining to ISO50001 Energy Management System.

  • Complete environmental permit applications, regulatory reports & voluntary award applications to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies or 3rd party entities

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science/Engineering or related STEM program(s) required.

  • Previous experience working on multiple projects at once and respond to rapidly changing demands.

  • Knowledgeable of Federal, State, and industry Environmental regulations and sustainability trends.

  • Some prior experience and/or knowledge of building systems: boilers, air handling units, cooling towers, chillers, water purification equipment.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, within all levels of the organization.

  • Exercise judgment while being insightful, logical and methodical.

  • Microsoft Office (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) experience preferred.

What we offer:

The salary for this position can range from $70,000 - $82,000 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
