Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Estimator for immediate employment on pursuits and projects throughout the Los Angeles region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Responsible for all aspects of estimating process.

  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs.

  • Conduct thorough review of drawings and specifications.

  • Perform detailed project cost estimates.

  • Produce general project schedules for the purposes of estimating.

  • Solicit subcontractors and vendors and ensure scope coverage prior to bid day.

  • Analyze and select subcontractors and vendors.

  • Lead and participate in discussion regarding constructability and means and methods.

Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and related experience.


  • Entrants to this position require extensive experience in the Engineering or Construction Industry with 8 years in heavy civil construction estimating including water and wastewater related projects.

  • Typically possess 5+ years of experience on a project performing work outside the estimating function.

  • Experienced in estimating concrete structures and mechanical work for water and wastewater treatment plants.

  • Experience with some estimating program such as HCSS, Heavy Bid, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Hard Dollar estimating program and ACCUBID is preferable.

  • 15+ years of estimating or construction industry experience preferred.

  • Master's degree in business, engineering, or construction management desirable.

Working with other members of the team, you'll support projects aimed at developing and improving hydrogeology studies, site characterization, water resources management, and water-supply reliability for a variety of public and private-sector clients, including working on SGMA-related projects throughout the State. During your time with us, you will support the current project managers in preparing for field activities, writing reports including remedial investigation reports. You'll perform analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, or other sources to support site characterization efforts, and will perform quantitative modeling using analytical and numerical methods and data visualization. You will complete technical writing with peer review and present data and evaluations in a clear and concise manner as well as contribute to the development of regulatory reporting technical documents (work plans, environmental investigation reports and remedial designs.
