What you'll be doing...

This position supports Verizon's global selection strategies through consultation and project leadership in: Development of selection solutions, assessment and interview design, statistical validation, job analysis and competency modeling, field logistics, talent market research, and legal compliance of selection practices.


  • Conduct large-scale cross-functional projects to develop new selection tools for specific business groups (or evaluate /redesign current tools) using job analysis and/or competency modeling

  • Partner with Selection Strategy Associate Director in identifying opportunities to align selection strategy with business strategy to ensure Verizon recruits the talent needed to achieve critical objectives

  • Maximize the business value of assessments through management of concurrent and predictive validation studies

  • Conduct statistical / predictive analytics with candidate and employee data to evaluate effectiveness / efficiency of selection solutions

  • Use labor market research to advise HR/recruiting parkers on recruiting and staffing challenges

  • Develop implementation guidelines, processes, communications and training to support field HR partners, and serve as an expert resource for questions regarding employment testing considerations

  • Support the improvement and standardization of recruiter processes

  • Ensure assessments are implemented in compliance with all relevant legal and professional standards (e.g., guiding technical documentation and analysis)

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Four or more years of work experience

  • Strong understanding of the selection field and related processes, tools, techniques and validation practices

  • Excellent project management skills, ability to manage multiple large-scale projects

  • Excellent critical thinking and decisionmaking skills when working under pressure

  • Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to relate to, communicate with, build alliances with and influence stakeholders and senior executives (e.g., VPs)

  • Ability to communicate data-based information effectively and concisely to corporate stakeholders

  • Persistence in driving ideas and delivering quality solutions and deliverables against aggressive deadlines

  • Experience interacting with and/or managing vendors

  • Strong verbal and written and presentation skills

  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and other MS Office applications

Even better if you have...

  • Ph.D. or research-based Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field

  • Consulting experience in selection and assessment (e.g. corporate HR setting, external consulting firm)

  • Experience managing and implementing large scale selection -related projects in a corporate environment Experience creating and/or delivering executive presentations on relevant topics

  • Experience with professional standards and practice in employment testing, measurement, and selection (e.g., SIOP, APA Standards, Uniform Guidelines, OFCCP.)

  • Proficiency in SPSS, Excel, SAS or other statistical packages for data / trend analsis

VIEW JOBS 12/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-11T00:00 Job Description: Role Summary/Purpose: This role will focus on working with the IS Risk Governance & Response Management leader to build out the Governance & Response function, including development, execution, control, and reporting in the following areas: Issue Management, Risk Acceptances and Decision Management, Assessment Response Management, ORM Response Management, Audit Response Management, Client Response Management, Regulatory Response Management, Compliance Response Management, Process RCSAs, Centralized Risk Management, Risk Exception Management, TRM Domain Summaries, KRI/KPI Creation and oversight, and Governance of functions such as the application certification process. The role will include the leading of assessments against key cyber security frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST FS-Profile, and the FFIEC Cybersecurity Assessment Tool. In this role, the individual will execute gap identification and remediation, and will facilitate cross-functional support of IS, Technology and Business teams in gathering evidence and leading responses to audits, assessments, and reviews, including responses to FRB and OCC exams. A key aspect of the role will be establishing key relationships and facilitating responses with the Technology Risk Management (TRM), Information Security (IS), Technology , 2nd line (ORM), Internal Audit and external auditor/consulting teams. Essential Responsibilities: * Identify and assess Information & Technology Risk, Security and Compliance requirements * Perform comprehensive review, design, and/or implement mitigation strategies (including remediation) to improve the organization's Risk profile * Manage risk, meeting local and global regulatory, security and business requirements, and maintaining the highest standards for quality, compliance and accountability * Maintain current knowledge of best practices and current procedures, and frameworks * Gather/provide modification recommendations, due to audit/assessment findings, to the creation and administration of policies, standards, procedures, job aids and processes * Lead cross-functional team members during audits, assessments, and reviews through response/follow-up and closure, including documenting findings, action items and evidence collection * Facilitate updates to open issues across the organization (i.e. IS, IT, TRM, ORM, IA, etc.) * Work/Track findings and issues (BSII's, 2L, Internal Audit) to closure and provide routine reporting to the IS Risk Governance & Response Management leader and senior management * Incorporate knowledge of regulatory frameworks FFIEC, NIST, FS profile, UCF into work products and recommendations * Apply Information Security and compliance requirements within scope of responsibility, provide documentation as necessary, and participate in compliance activities as required * Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned Qualifications/Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 5 years of information technology experience or, in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 9 years of information technology experience preferred * Significant experience in financial services risk management preferred * Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk) * Knowledge of Security Assessment and Authorization process * Knowledge of current industry methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating Technology security assessment, monitoring, detection, and remediation tools and procedures utilizing standards-based concepts and capabilities * Knowledge of controls related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of data Desired Characteristics: * Knowledge of the organization's enterprise Technology goals and objectives * Knowledge of the organization's core business/mission processes * Knowledge of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data security standards * Knowledge of Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standards * Knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, or governance relevant to cybersecurity for critical infrastructures * Understands how Information Security and Technology works end-to-end and the impact of advice/consultation and/or solutions across the customer's enterprise * Excellent consulting skills and superior ability to develop and maintain effective relationships * Strong knowledge of MS Office products * Capable of working independently or in group setting * Understands eGRC systems and process, preferably BWise (current GRC tool), and KeyLight * Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and strong problem solving with a common-sense approach to resolving problems * Expertise to clearly define complex issues despite incomplete or ambiguous information * Strong oral and written communications skills * Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills * Excellent communication and relationship building skills * Expert knowledge of risk management * Strong analytical skills * Strong project management skills Eligibility Requirements: * You must be 18 years or older * You must have a high school diploma or equivalent * You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process * You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act. * Effective 1-1-18, new hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.
