Job Description

Responsibilities:

Provide architectural support, including operational and prototyping expertise, for Nationwide Life business unit and develop and maintain systems architecture for our Nationwide Financial software application suite. Ensure that the product meets functional and non-functional requirements.

Serve as key contributor on strategies, blueprints and roadmaps for a given product, application, or technology area focused on technical directions like Cloud First. Ensure product or application roadmaps are aligned with solution and enterprise roadmaps with the correct guard rails. Build architectural prototypes and provide hand's-on support.

Identify technology risk, technical currency and technical debt related to applications when planning for new solutions, technology upgrades and maintenance of product or application platforms. Craft moderate to sophisticated build patterns, accelerators, building codes standard and carrying out compliance with architecture standards. Drive technical quality by conducting or participating in architecture, design and code reviews, capacity planning, modeling and testing. Assist in mentoring lines involved in a product or application development when unfamiliar, new technologies or techniques are introduced.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field. Seven (7) years of application development experience, including four years of experience in cloud architecture design using Kafka and Amazon Web Services; Mainframe application development; and use of technologies including Java, Javascript, SOA architecture, API, APIGEE, Postman JSON, and COBOL to support legacy systems. Position offers a hybrid Work-From-Home/Office schedule; working primarily in the Columbus office and at home within the Columbus metropolitan area.
