As Managing Editor of Dell Technologies Brand Content, these are the stories you will create and curate for Perspectives, the Dell Technologies brand publishing site.
You will lead the daily editorial execution of Perspectives, including requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content. As Managing Editor, you'll identify topics, themes, and storylines that appeal to our target audience, write pitch requests and story briefs that inspire the best work from contributing writers, manage the relationship with the content agency, manage writers within that network, and of course, edit stories so they meet Perspectives editorial guidelines and represent our brand voice. The Managing Editor also serves as the interface between Dell Technologies brand content and stakeholders across the Dell Technologies family, building relationships with our partners in Communications, Corporate, and content teams across our strategically aligned businesses. This includes managing an editorial council and identifying opportunities to bridge Dell Technologies brand content to other corporate, family of brand, and thought leadership content that may fall in the customer journey.
As a writer/journalist, you're always seeking out juicy stories and interesting ways of telling them. As a marketer, you're looking to convey the Dell Technologies story and messaging. In this Managing Editor role, you get to do both!
Lead all Perspectives content development and publishing, including writing story briefs, evaluating writer pitches, editing stories from contributing writers, providing creative/editorial guidance for multiple visual formats, such as infographics, slideshares, and videos, and publishing stories to the Perspectives platform
Collaborate with editor-in-chief to identify brand publishing themes/topics that build enterprise brand credibility for Dell Technologies with our target audience, while ensuring point-of-view message and brand voice consistency
Manage the Perspectives editorial calendar, including ensuring it represents content directly contributed to Perspectives by stakeholders outside of the Brand Content team
Manage the monthly editorial council and collaborate with partners across Corporate, Communications, Events, and the Family of Brands to communicate Perspectives brand content objectives and identify content synergies/co-development/cross-linking opportunities
Optimize content for search and content resonance across formats, regularly monitoring performance along with our brand content insights partner
Contribute to other brand content initiatives as needed
8+ years of experience in a journalist, writer, editor, or content marketing role
A degree in Journalism, Marketing, English, Communications, Public Relations or a related field
Strong writing, editing, issue management, strategic planning, relationship and consensus-building, problem-solving and oral/written presentation skills
Natural storyteller with ability to suggest ideas for stories and see them through to publication
Excellent attention to detail for both copyediting and ensuring quality and consistency in style and tone across content
Familiarity with customer journey mapping and optimizing content for resonance, engagement, and SEO
Familiarity with WordPress and editorial calendar management a plus
Candidate must be organized, enthusiastic, results oriented, innovative and able to deal with ambiguity and tight deadlines while working effectively in a team environment
