Team Description

The HFS Data Management team plays a crucial role in creating maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of the security master data. Leveraging a combination of external vendors, internally engineered systems, and third party platforms. The team is dedicated to researching, validating, and accurately representing security information for global consumption. The team's responsibilities extend to overseeing daily vendor pricing data, corporate action data, and entity data to support critical business operation.

Summary

We are seeking a skilled candidate to join our Data Team. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our security master data, valuation data processing, and validating corporate action data. The ideal candidate will work closely with various IT groups to enhance our data management processes, contributing to testing and validation efforts for pricing and data rule changes. The position requires the candidate to be effective addressing a number of internal and external audiences in a professional manner. This person will add value by working on a number of simultaneous projects with minimal supervision and exemplary follow-through.

Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services offers world-class, scalable technology and dedicated expertise to serve hedge funds and large institutional investors with complex portfolios and product types. The business provides comprehensive middle office and administrative services, including trade processing, asset servicing, valuation and profit and loss reporting, cash and collateral management, reconciliations, accounting and NAV calculations and investor servicing and reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Make independent recommendations (based upon market/instruments practices) regarding appropriate resolutions for data discrepancies

• Contribute to projects via special testing process and activities related to the introduction of new data rules/vendors

• Test all "rule" enhancements that impact the flow of data to various databases

• Troubleshoot and resolve daily valuation issues - missing price, no price, wrong price - collaborate on resolutions with IT and business.

• Ensure that instruments' terms and identifiers are accurate so that pricing/valuation can be linked.

• Interface with our Data Vendor Providers

• Ensure that vendor feeds are processed correctly (business/content perspective) when loaded to raw repository and then to pricing repository.

• Vendor Feed Oversight - involved with the addition or decommission of vendor feeds - driven by client requests or changes to the marketplace

• Work with shared services office teams and/or Clients to ensure proper impact for vendor selection update

• Manage HFS's market data vendor relationships.

• Ensure HFS is compliant with its vendor agreements.

• Perform vendor cost analysis for HFS and its clients.

• Reporting - generate usage reports used for vendor and client invoicing.

Qualifications

• Experience with data management platforms and systems(.g. Bloomberg, ICE, Reuters)

• General knowledge of the financial markets and functional knowledge of a wide range of asset classes.

• Proficiency in MS Office(e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook) computer applications.

• Technical skills (SQL queries, file manipulation) are required.

• At least 3-5 years of experience in financial services - middle office/operations

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Business or equivalent
