Job Description:

Responsibilities include full life cycle management of DB2 mainframe databases from analysis through decommission. Additionally the Individual will be involved in DB2 related z/Os Database software upgrades, including DB2 Database, DB2 Connect, BMC and Shadow products.

Day to day activities would include:

  • Provision of technical consultation to application teams during the design of database solutions in regard to approach, resources, availability and recoverability.

  • Translation of business requirements into a physical database for implementation with a focus on a complete understanding of processing requirements (peak times, # trans etc.), performance, availability, recoverability, and data access methods

  • Consulting with the application teams on both ACF2 and RACF managed database security to ensure appropriate access is provisioned for data access

  • Defining and implementing application specific backup and recovery strategies for the production environment.

  • Implement, change, remove database owned components ensuring adherence to Enterprise and database standards

  • Support of product upgrades related to DB2 providing a focal communication point for development teams as well as completing owned DBA remediation activities, executing internal verification processes, conducting assessments of new feature/function and providing recommendations for use.

  • Performance tuning support and recommendations for database calls, in cooperation with the application development team.

  • Monitoring and addressing items on exception reports to ensure a stable production environment

  • Supplying database technical expertise to application developers by assisting in development debugging efforts related to database and providing information on the various database utilities and facilities

  • Support DBA production on call rotation including 24X7 SEV1 test support.

  • Conduct information sharing meetings with the application teams when requested.

  • Support of Self-Identified Audits, Control assessments, Database Audits and SOX reviews, ensuring deliverables are complete and correct, and all milestone deliverables dates are met.

. Occasional work outside of U.S. business hours for production installs and on call support.

Required Skills:

Expertise in one or more of the following:

  • 5 + years of Db2 DBA Experience in Mainframe Db2 environment

  • Mainframe skills (JCL/TSO/etc.)

  • Strong technical working knowledge of DB2 on Z/OS in a data sharing environment

  • Experience in SQL tuning and database design

  • Experience with BMC and IBM DB2 utilities

  • Ability to work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors relating to Mainframe DB2 Database.

  • Proficient in MS office tools Excel, word, PowerPoint

  • Able to communicate effectively with peers, managements & other technical support personnel in a diverse global environment

Desired Skills:

  • Mainframe DB2 Performance Skills a significant plus

  • Programming background a plus

  • JAVA on Z experience a plus

  • Understanding of CICS programming with Db2 a plus

  • Experience with BMC Mainframe DB2 tool suite a plus (Change Manager, Catalog Manager, Mainview) preferred.

  • Knowledge of ACF2 managed security for DB2 access a plus

A successful candidate must have strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with a strategic mindset. The candidate with a solid understanding of Wholesale Banking businesses would be preferred. The candidate needs to have robust leadership and organizational/interpersonal skills as he/she need to collaborate with partners from LOBs and support groups. Primary responsibilities: * Support WIS Senior Leads/Leads/Senior Consultants as they lead strategic initiatives, solve strategic issues and manage the strategic planning process * Help develop project plans by structuring issues that need to be resolved, identifying key activities and determining timelines * Frame analysis required for problem solving, gather necessary data and information and conduct analysis to draw insights * Help develop recommendations, business cases and implementation plans * Draft documentations of analysis and recommendations * Interact with junior members of subject matter experts to obtain necessary information for problem solving * Support monitoring of industry and global trends to assess possible implications and impact on Wells Fargo strategy * Perform all of the above with an enterprise mindset to ensure alignment, consistency, and maximization of shareholder value Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company.
