Job Purpose:

The Governance, Risk and Assurance (GRA) department provides a framework to answer the following questions for the organization:

  • What are the rules under which we as a company operate and make decisions?
  • What are the risks to obtaining our strategic and business objectives?
  • How are we doing in our efforts to adhere to those rules and to manage the risks to obtaining our objectives?

GRA ensures we use one method and one language to identify, assess, and discuss risks; that we spend time and energy formulating and auditing risk reducing activity where it makes the most sense, and that we create efficient and effective rules by which we operate that are designed to protect against our biggest risks. Risk & Assurance provides an objective risk, assurance and consulting function designed to add value to and improve the Company's performance against risk appetite and risk awareness, and involves risk management and the internal auditing function.

Framework General Profile and Scope:

Consultantprovides advice as regards to strategy, management and operations as well as the structure of a business. They analyze and identify problems, research and collect data, prepare business proposals, manage projects and programs. They recommend solutions, utilizing knowledge of theory, principles, or technology of specific discipline or field of specialization. Consults with client to ascertain define need or problem area plus determine scope of investigation required to obtain solution. Consultants analyze data to define solution, and examine alternate methods as well.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain risk models and scenario documentation in accordance with model management practices

  • Utilize financial data, projections, and global assumptions to support risk assessment and analysis

  • Analyze and present technical information to a broad range of audiences

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of and experience with insurance and annuity products

  • Provides support and assurance of entity- , business-, and process-level risks and risk reducing activities

  • Partner with process/business management and R&A consultants to define and implement monitoring programs for assigned process groups, risks and risk reducing activities

  • Identify updates to risk register/universe at entity-level based upon process-level test results

  • Contributes to the monitoring and reporting of assurance, risks, risk reducing activities and related issues, including maintenance of Enterprise and Business Level risk registers

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements

  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions and approaches changes with flexibility

  • Works independently, receives minimal guidance

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Accounting, or related field.

  • Currently possess or will sit for CPA, CIA, ARM, and/or CERA or CISA certification.

  • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience, including

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to lead small to medium project efforts

  • Ability to working independently and with teams

  • Analyzing processes, identifying problems and their root causes, and assisting in the development of improvements.

  • Building relationship with peers and process and/or risk owners

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • SME Variants:

  • Demonstrated understanding of information technology controls and processes (IT SME)

  • Demonstrated understanding of actuarial and product risks and risk reducing responses (Actuarial SME)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of one or more of the following: COBIT, COSO, MAR, North American CRO Council, CAS, ISO31000 or the IIA Professional Audit/ERM Frameworks.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
