About Intrepid Ascent

Intrepid Ascent, a multi-disciplinary team of passionate experts, provides consulting services to support health care and human service organizations to further collaborate through building aligned relationships and using technology for enhanced data exchange. Our services support clients implementing innovative approaches to Community Health Transformation through Impact Analysis, Collaborative Design, and Systems Implementation. We support data sharing and coordination across teams, organizations, and sectors to better serve individuals and improve health outcomes. We are headquartered in Berkeley, CA with a fully remote and distributed team. Although this position is remote it does require the ability and willingness to travel to support client engagements up to 20% of total time on an annual basis. Your Role

We seek a self-directed, reliable, energetic, and insightful person with a broad understanding of the health care and/or human service environment and a focus on human-centered design and/or quality improvement methodology to serve in a full-time role as a Consultant. You will be a key member of the Community Change Group. The Community Change Group utilizes design thinking, stakeholder engagement, change management, and quality improvement methods to promote positive and sustainable change. We also apply these skills to help clients and their partners incorporate technology into their diverse ecosystems to strengthen human relationships and processes through partnership with our colleagues in the Technology Strategy Group. By guiding program design and implementation from the perspective of individuals and overall community impact, this role is crucial to putting people at the center of transformation to improve health and social outcomes.

What you will do

  • Serve as a valuable team player, supporting client engagements across the firm's portfolio of work, providing project management of workstream activities throughout the project lifecycle;

  • Apply human-centered design and/or quality improvement methodologies to supporting project teams and client engagements, including but not limited to designing and facilitating meetings to unlock collective intelligence and decision-making;

  • Conduct research, analysis of information, and contribute to the development of high-quality work products, such as assessments, presentations, in-person facilitation guides, and client reports. Align expertise with a broader understanding of health care, human service, and policy environments to generate insights supporting innovation in the field;

  • Review, interpret, and analyze federal and state policies, including research and analysis of current guidance and best practices for policy implementation (e.g. Medicaid 1115 waiver programs);

  • Develop subject matter expertise and analytical skills across Intrepid Ascent practice areas through professional growth activities such as reading industry material, attending conferences and educational events, online courses and webinars, knowledge transfer with other staff, and utilizing learning resources from relevant professional organizations;

What you will bring to the team

  • Human-Centered Design Expertise: Demonstrated experience leveraging human-centered design methodologies to support project work. Familiarity with various tools used to unlock collective intelligence, and application of these tools in a work environment; AND/OR Quality Improvement Expertise: Demonstrated experience leveraging quality improvement methodologies (e.g. Model for Improvement, Lean Six Sigma) to support project work. Familiarity with various QI tools (e.g. driver diagram, plan-do-study-act cycles, etc.) and application of these methodologies in a work environment.

  • Project Management Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of project management processes, including managing project resources, client and stakeholder engagement, meeting facilitation, maintaining work plans and timelines, issue and risk management, deliverables tracking, reporting, and documentation

  • Public Health Interest: Commitment to public health objectives for under-resourced populations; strong understanding of safety-net programs (esp. Medicaid); understanding of social determinants of health and intersection of social services and health care services.

  • Bachelor's degree with a healthcare, social work, or public health focus, preferred;

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in a role directly associated with stakeholder engagement, change management, human-centered design or quality improvement at a health care or social service organization, consulting firm, or other relevant experience;

  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management processes, including managing project resources, client and stakeholder engagement, meeting facilitation, maintaining work plans and timelines, issue and risk management, deliverables tracking, reporting, and documentation;

  • Experience structuring and facilitating inclusive, participatory meetings of varying sizes;

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to master new topics and ideas quickly;

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to produce professional written documents, visual diagrams, and reports.

Preferred candidates will also have

  • Demonstrated experience developing and analyzing measurement strategies;

  • Demonstrated experience developing learning sessions/ trainings for teams of various sizes;

  • A residence in California or New York.
