Champion is seeking for an Assistant Carpenter / Installer

As an Assistant Carpenter / Installer, you will support the lead installer in the construction of Sunroom including wall, window, door, support structures, and roof installation to ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Lead Installer in the installation of the job to ensure a Champion quality job is done in a timely and safe manner

  • Interacts with customers in a professional manner

  • Loads / Unloads materials for job

  • Learns aspects of lead installer's responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive team environment

  • Safely perform all aspects of job in compliance with all federal, state & local laws

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred, construction trade school a plus

  • Prior experience in construction and skilled labor involving carpentry, roofing, windows installation, use of a brake as well as hand tools such as utility knife, hammer, deglazing tools, etc.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers

  • Math skills including using a tape measure and angles

  • Detail-oriented

Provide management construction and non-standard Rigging services provided to select customers using our preferred contractors under the Professional Services programs:</p><ul><li><p>Virtual Attendance or Travel to Customer locations for site planning meetings with the customer, their design/construction team, and Varian sales.</p></li><li><p>Develop Customer Project Design Development and Equipment Coordination Drawings and Shielding Recommendations as required in project planning.</p></li><li><p>Review architectural and engineering drawings for compliance with Varian equipment site preparation requirements.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate projects with customers, their architects, contractors, and Varian installation staff. Respond to Requests for Information</p></li><li><p>(RFIs) from the Customers design team for technical information.</p></li><li><p>Provide first-line management of small to moderate construction projects, including Scope Development, Request for proposal &amp; Award process, construction oversight, and Contract Administration.</p></li><li><p>Responsible for providing Planning &amp; CM services across a regionally assigned large Planning Region.</p></li><li><p>Note: The duties listed above reflect general responsibilities necessary for the performance of the job and may not include additional ad-hoc assignments.</p></li></ul><p>Qualifications and Experience:</p><ul><li><p>Experience using AutoCAD or similar design software is mandatory.</p></li><li><p>Minimum of three to five years experience in architecture, construction, healthcare, or facilities planning organization.</p></li><li><p>Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent), Architecture, Construction Mgmt., or Project Mgmt. is preferred.</p></li><li><p>Experience with Medical Radiation Oncology equipment or related high technology equipment installation design and (is a plus but not mandatory).</p></li><li><p>General knowledge of construction code and government radiation regulations is required.</p></li><li><p>Experience in the preparation and reviewing of construction documents.</p></li><li><p>Experience and knowledge in construction management and processes are highly desired.</p></li><li><p>Experience/knowledge with equipment delivery and rigging processes through occupied finished spaces.</p></li><li><p>Proficient in utilizing PC business tools such as Outlook, Microsoft Project (TaskRay), SharePoint, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.</p></li><li><p>Possess strong communication, customer relations, and problem-solving skills.</p></li><li><p>Possess the ability, competence, and confidence to lead people.</p></li><li><p>Willing to travel about 50% to project sites within US and Canada area.</p></li></ul><p>Fighting cancer calls for big ideas.</p><p>We envision a world without fear of cancer.
