As an Assistant Carpenter / Installer, you will support the lead installer in the construction of Sunroom including wall, window, door, support structures, and roof installation to ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Lead Installer in the installation of the job to ensure a Champion quality job is done in a timely and safe manner

  • Interacts with customers in a professional manner

  • Loads / Unloads materials for job

  • Learns aspects of lead installer's responsibilities

  • Contributes to a positive team environment

  • Safely perform all aspects of job in compliance with all federal, state & local laws

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred, construction trade school a plus

  • Prior experience in construction and skilled labor involving carpentry, roofing, windows installation, use of a brake as well as hand tools such as utility knife, hammer, deglazing tools, etc.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers

  • Math skills including using a tape measure and angles

  • Detail-oriented

Your leadership will drive the safe, efficient, and high-quality work performance of crews, contractors, and other resources responsible for key components of our gas pipeline integrity management program. If you are a compelling leader, have a mindset of delivering innovation through technology, and are committed to ensuring the safe delivery of natural gas, we want to hear from you!</p><p>Some of the ways in which you will make an impact include:</p><ul><li><p>Providing leadership, coaching, mentoring, and support to our gas construction crew supervisors</p></li><li><p>Ensuring gas construction crews perform work adhering to our DOT Operator Qualifications program and are empowered to safely perform all assigned tasks</p></li><li><p>Measuring the performance of activities against requirements and driving continuous improvement efforts through technological advancements across operational activities; this includes being a driver for change management, process improvements, and operational consistency</p></li><li><p>Partnering with stakeholders and taking responsibility for overseeing the monitoring, troubleshooting, and execution of Federal and State DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials regulations and standards regarding the installation, maintenance, and repairs of gas pipelines</p></li><li><p>Forecasting staff, resources, loads, demands, and preventative maintenance needs to ensure operational requirements are met for short and long-term project plans</p></li><li><p>Conducting construction design reviews on behalf of the gas construction department and crew supervisors to influence job design with a construction expertise</p></li><li><p>Planning, developing, and implementing major projects setting priorities and deadlines to meet key deliverables</p></li></ul><p>Who You Are</p><ul><li><p>6+ years of gas pipeline construction, operations, and/or maintenance experience required</p></li><li><p>3+ years of experience in a leadership capacity (e.g., mentoring and coaching, employee development, performance management) required</p></li><li><p>Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license</p></li><li><p>Knowledgeable in gas pipeline construction and applicable regulatory compliance</p></li><li><p>Skilled in facilitating the tactical management of resources, personnel, and equipment</p></li><li><p>Ability to influence a team to handle and prioritize multiple projects and priorities</p></li><li><p>Determined, well-organized, and self-motivated with effective communication skills (verbal and written)</p></li><li><p>Experience utilizing technology advancements for process improvements</p></li><li><p>Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at various levels</p></li></ul><p>Our Commitment to our Employees</p><p>Our people are the heart and soul of Colorado Springs Utilities.
