General Job Description:

This posting is for a Full-time instructor at Sidney High School. The instructor will be responsible for Upper Valley Career Center's Introduction to Construction courses taught at Sidney High School and will provide instructional activities that are consistent with the objectives of the program. The instructor will prepare and conduct lessons for courses from the Construction Technologies pathway as identified in the state of Ohio content standards. The instructor will direct the learning experiences of the students, including skill development, human relations, and leadership qualities, which are necessary to obtain gainful employment in this career field.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Instruct classroom and laboratory classes according to the Ohio Department of Education content standards.

  • Design and implement real-world applications for the students.

  • Develop curriculum and courses needed to support the program's mission.

  • Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

  • Maintain a safe learning environment for all students and assure that school policies and guidelines are followed.

  • Participate in Advisory Committee functions.

  • Promote a positive learning environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold or qualify for certification/licensure in Construction pathway, which would include 5 years of experience in the Construction industry.

  • Must meet all the requirements governing teacher education and licensure.

  • The instructor must be a strong team leader, possess excellent human relations skills and serve as a role model for students.

  • Meets all mandated health screening requirements.

  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Able to successfully pass a BCI/FBI background check.

  • Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.

Salary:

Appropriate placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience. Salary will range from $48,678.00. ( Class II, Step 0) to $80,934.00 (Class V, Step 10). Base contract is 187 Days. Minimum workday is 7 hours per day exclusive of a lunch break . One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

State Teachers Retirement System, Worker's Compensation, paid sick/personal leave, partial tuition reimbursement, and tax-sheltered retirement contributions. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance offered. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.

Performance Evaluation:

Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.
