Golder has a new opportunity for a Construction Technician to join the Pipeline Construction team based at Parish, Alabama. This role will be a temporary position.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
Operations of equipment
Complete grading, trenching, sloping, and finishing tasks to drawings and specs
Read and understand locators prior to excavation
Read grade plans and use grade stakes in measuring the amount of earth to be moved
Ability to work with a trench box
Secure special attachments to equipment
Monitoring / Preventive Maintenance
Execute preventative maintenance tasks
Diagnose mechanical problems
Health and Safety
Adhering to our corporate HSSE policies and procedures as outline in the Global HSSE Manual.
Participating in the preparation of HSSE plans and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to Golder staff, Golder's clients, employees and the public.
Identifying and reporting potential and existing site hazards, incidents, potential Fatal Risk Controls, and pSIFs.
Ensuring proper care, handling, and storage of equipment, samples, and products (specific equipment and apparatus types or storage protocols relevant to the discipline may be added).
Teamwork and Collaboration
Work with and support other Golder employees in the field or office.
Where necessary work independently, connecting with senior personnel as required for clarity and direction.
Carry out field work under the direction of more experienced Golder employees.
If necessary, provide guidance/mentorship to junior Golder employees.
Minimum level of education is required, HS Diploma
Required: 6,000 hours and 5 years' experience operating track-hoe excavators.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Lifting, moving, and carrying up to 50 lbs. may be required.
Periods of standing, sitting, and walking on a variety of surfaces.
Periods of standing, sitting, and walking in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
Driving to and from sites.
Extended period away from home location due to field assignments.
Required to work non-standard hours and/or in various time zones.
Manual dexterity required to use equipment, peripherals, and computers.
Wear correct PPE as specified.
