The Eastern Region of Otis Elevator Company is searching for a highly motivated Construction Superintendent to drive productivity and promote innovative solutions.

The construction superintendent will have direct responsibility for the new equipment business, including field operations, customer satisfaction and overall general business management. The successful candidate will be instrumental in aggressively growing the profitability to meet or exceed business objectives along with fostering a team building environment.


  • Directing the performance of new elevator installations

  • Meeting all financial performance targets including profit and working capital

  • Develop and maintain positive, cooperative, team-oriented relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, clients and others in contact with the job

  • Maintaining customer quality assurance; emphasis on safety, managing the expenditure of labor, materials and other assets

  • Communicate directly with multiple representatives of the general contractors, owners, architects and designers, also state and local authorities and regulatory agencies concerning project design, preparations, and scheduling of installation for the equipment

  • Improving efficiencies, overseeing crew development and performance to estimate.

  • Accurately interpret construction contractual documents and contract modifications to determine cost of such change

  • Correctly analyze situations and assist in developing contingencies for estimates

  • Field safety audits, jobsite inspections, and developing site safety/logistics plans


  • Experience leading field associates in new equipment or modernization functions preferred

  • Successful candidate should be very comfortable in a technical environment utilizing Microsoft based computer software- word, excel, power point, and outlook

  • Proven success in leading others is crucial

  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills and able to work in a highly team-oriented and dynamic environment

  • Candidates should also have an entrepreneurial spirit and selling strategy; must have demonstrated good business decision making in previous positions; must be a team player and must be able to sell on factors other than price

  • Self-motivated individuals who have the ability to manage many simultaneous projects and responsibilities are a must

  • High school education or equivalent

  • Must have a valid driver's license

Position Summary Reporting directly to the Construction Manager this position provides direction to General Contractor regarding quality, safety, and general day to day operations. This is site based position and is the day to day first line of contact with craft labor on the project site. * Monitors the activities of contractors and subcontractors performing craftwork, ensuring compliance with project quality, safety, and security requirements * Ensures that subordinates are trained on and aware of specifications and work procedures and are utilized to ensure optimal efficiency * Maintains effective schedule and cost control of craft personnel * Plans required work activity to ensure that design drawings, tools, equipment, and materials are available when needed * Responsible for safety of supervised personnel; ensures that craft personnel comply with established safety policies and procedures, and that they practice safe work habits * High School diploma is required * Minimum of 6 years experience in construction involving multiple phases of medium-to-large scale building/rehabilitation projects. * A minimum of 4 years of the experience shall be as an assistant superintendent or inspector on medium-to-large scale multi contract, building projects. * Knowledge of building codes is preferred. * OSHA 30 certification required. Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
