Job Description:

Makes recommendations to superiors relating to change orders;

  • Prepares progress reports, special reports relating to problems and delays, and examines and approves daily field reports prepared by others;

  • Coordinates work assignments of technicians with other supervisors and Area Engineers;

  • Responds to inquiries from local public officials, news organizations and other interested parties;

  • Maintains control over attendance and work conditions for subordinates;

  • Ensures that both INDOT and contractor employees are performing work in a safe manner in compliance with OSHA and other applicable standards, and reports deficiencies to appropriate office;

  • Maintains all files related to project in an orderly and usable manner;

  • Supervises preparation of final construction records, examines and approves contractor requests for payment;

  • Attends preconstruction and partnering meetings as INDOT representative;

  • Meets with affected property owners in the project area and works to resolve access restriction issues, drainage problems and other issues that may arise during construction;

  • Maintains daily project records and files, and oversees the work of technicians doing the same, including: daily reports of materials placed, locations of work, work interruptions, contractor workforce size and composition, test results, and any other related information;

  • Prepares simple field drawings or sketches as necessary to implement and document minor changes to project specifications;

  • Prepares and submits a wide variety of documentation to the Final Review Office, and coordinates with the Final Review Office in the project closure process, answering questions and doing research as requested;

  • Teaches certified technician classes and assists students in preparation for examinations; and,

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for assisting in coordinating the sampling and testing of aggregates, steel, asphalt, soils and all other materials.

Preferred Experience:

Valid high school diploma or GED; or one (1) year of work experience.

This position serves as the eligibility consultant for public assistance programs. This position is responsible for correct eligibility determinations for Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), etc. The State Eligibility Consultant reports to a State Eligibility Manager for the assigned Region. A day in the life: * Review and approves or rejects eligibility recommendations made by contract staff for appropriate benefits and waiver programs; * Follows all directives given by the State Eligibility Manager/Local Office Manager/Deputy Regional Manager/Regional Manager; * Examines Data Matches to discern discrepant and unreported data; * Approves claims referred and calculated by the Contractor; * Approve or deny auxiliary benefit requests and under issuance requests; authorizes fiats * Conducts full eligibility interviews for SNAP, TANF and Medicaid applicants; * Insures that all clients are treated in a courteous, professional, and empathetic manner; * Keeps current on all changes in rules, regulations and guidelines regarding the individual benefit programs; completion of all trainings are timely; * Performs related duties as assigned. What we're looking for: * Five (5) years' work experience in counseling; social services; education; public administration; or accredited college training in a related field. * Thorough knowledge of public assistance policy, practices and procedures; * Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local rules and regulations related to public assistance programs; * Working knowledge of computerized eligibility systems; * Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions; * Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people from varied backgrounds; * Ability to use discretion in dealing with all client's and fellow employee's personal information; * Demonstrates effective communication and interview skills, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; * Ability to be flexible and self-motivated in managing multiple priorities and to use time management techniques in order to complete job assignments in a timely manner; * Ability to work independently and as part of a team; * Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; * Ability to travel * Ability to maintain valid driver's license.
