Construction and
Equipment Safety Specialist

Responsibilities:

* Promote and protect Tesla's reputation as a cutting-edge company producing the world's most exciting cars and shifting the paradigm of personal transportation worldwide. Manage multiple construction projects through design, build and qualification. * Provide field safety oversight of work activities. * Ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal health and safety regulations. * Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S policies, plans, and procedures. * Lead and document accident/incident investigations to determine root cause, prevention and corrective measures. * Attend, coordinate, and conduct safety orientation and training programs. * Participate in and contribute to project planning and hazard analysis. * Perform frequent combined safety and environmental inspections and procedural audits in the field and have the skills, knowledge and ability to take immediate corrective action if required. * Review equipment design to ensure equipment and tooling adheres to ANSI, ISO, RIA, NFPA, GB and OSHA equipment, machinery, and electrical safety standards components that could be affected by the new equipment. * Provide continuous support to Engineering staff from concept to design to SOP* Perform factory acceptance testing (FAT) to ensure manufacturers have incorporated applicable ANSI and OSHA standards into the equipment. * Perform (SAT) Site acceptance testing, to insure equipment is safe for operation. * Conduct safety functionality testing on newly installed or modified equipment to ensure the safety control devices perform as intended by the safety logic. * Provide Safety designs and concepts for new/legacy equipment that adapt to factory needs. * Perform Safety Audits to insure machinery is operated as designed and all safety devices are functioning as intended. * Perform risk assessment on production lines and equipment according to machinery safety standards. * Follow technological improvements and provide counseling on machinery safety * Manage change requests on safety systems and devices for existing equipment * Practice and maintain strong communication between all organizations * Designing safe work spaces and creating policies for employees to follow that minimize job-related hazards. * Review existing Tesla standards and improve according to current trends & needs

Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Occupational Health/Industrial Hygiene or a related discipline; or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.* 5+ yrs of hands-on experience building high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (Automotive, machine integration, semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.).*

  • 5+ yrs automation experience including mechanical/electrical/control design * Background in PLC programming/troubleshooting (Allen Bradley/Siemez/Beckoff)* Experience in working with numerous city, county, state, and federal permitting authorities.* CHST, CMSE, and or CSP preferred. * Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment. * Background in high voltage power generation, heavy civil, wastewater, manufacturing. * Working knowledge of OSHA, UBC, ISO, ANSI, RIA, NFPA, GB, codes. * Desire to do the impossible with a positive and professional "never say die" attitude. * Ability to communicate clearly and interface with team members. * Strong desire to be a part of a world class team focused on achieving amazing results.

Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism. Architecting, constructing, operating and continually innovating the telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure within our data centers is fundamental to ensuring high availability, the capacity to meet our extreme growth demands and obtaining the most robust and cost-effective online service in the world! The successful candidate will provide oversight for multiple projects on an on-going basis and provide loss control management oversight to the internal and external teams building our projects. Project locations will be based throughout the North American region. Managing stakeholders located across all regions is a significant challenge and is key to the success of our projects. This position is full-time and located in Fremont, CA. REGIONAL CONSTRUCTION SAFETY MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES * Implementation, and refinement, of a Construction Loss Control Program to enhance our safety and risk management program. Coordinate and provide direction, training, and mentorship for onsite construction teams and internal Facebook stakeholders to implement effective safety processes. Oversee and coordinate site level loss control efforts. Collaborate with our internal teams to monitor the safety programs on project sites and maintain a method to achieving a zero incident environment. Provides managerial oversight for regionalized loss control staff - manages consistency on jobsites, ensures collaboration, and measures efficiency. Measures effectiveness of region's safety efforts, and reports on region's cross-functional outputs. Ensure internal processes are followed and align expectations for best in class safety performance. Provide effort and input on global initiatives and programs. Be actively engaged in maintaining cross functional relationships to foster cooperation and enhance safety endeavors. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or equivalent Health and Safety degree from an accredited university and/or minimum of ten (10) years experience in construction industry mainly focused upon Health and Safety - Experience working in North America building codes and health & safety regulations. Minimum of 5 years of experience directly managing safety staff. Experience working within a comprehensive safety program. Demonstrated experience in implementation of Environmental Health & Safety enhancement programs. Proven experience partnering with team members and contractors to implement change. Knowledge in the design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems as similar to data center construction processes. Knowledge of standard practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of fast-track design-build process and associated documents and contracts. Experience with ground-up construction and greenfield site development requirements. Experience with retrofit projects in live mission-critical environments or occupied spaces. Communications/reporting experience. Experience with MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Certifications recognized by Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
