Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Quality Coordinator with NACE Coating Inspection Certification. Current or prior pipeline experience is required.

Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required.

Essential Task and Responsibilities

  • Performs inspection checks on quality of workmanship and materials, to ensure compliance to codes and specifications as well as reporting of same

  • Researches and monitors controls: specifications, codes, and standards for the work

  • Performs visual inspection of installations

  • Daily field inspection and associated reports

  • Provides site orientation of quality requirements for key construction contractor personnel

  • Monitors compliance of consumable material supply and storage

  • Monitors equipment and materials to ensure suitability and compliance to requirements

  • Supports technical expertise

  • Witnesses field tests, writes quality surveillance report (QSR), and follows up to ensure compliance with ITP's

  • Conducts quality audits on construction activities as detailed in the (site) Quality Audit Plan

  • Provides input / feedback / recommendations on practical aspects of quality plans and procedures

  • Provides input into final check-offs and acceptance requirements for turnover purposes

  • Regularly communicates and works collaboratively with construction team

  • Supports construction contractors QC representatives in the witness / inspection / testing of systems and equipment

  • Regularly communicates / works collaboratively with Safety Code Officers (or equivalent)

  • Supports Contract Administrators and works with Managers on recommendations with issues and concerns regarding performance of contracted work

  • Provides support with "As built" drawing reviews and turnover for completion

Scope and Impact of Job

  • Plans and carries out assigned projects, resolves most of the conflicts, coordinates work with others and interprets policy on own initiative

  • Coordinates quality activities according to project priorities. Must balance competing priorities

  • Regularly required to find solutions to critical or difficult to resolve conflicts between project disciplines and management requirements

  • Finds creative solutions to multi-faceted and / or time sensitive, complex problems on a regular basis

  • Anticipates potential problems, proactively solves complex problems through creative thinking and creative use of internal/external resources both inside and outside of discipline expertise

  • Acts to prevent conditions from getting out of hand or to resolve an issue as they see fit and reports immediately to the next level of supervision

  • Is preauthorized to cope with issues within establishes parameters and then report the results of their actions

  • Reviews the work of others to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with instructions and established procedures

  • Completes Annual Personal Development Review

  • No direct reports, but frequently provides opinion to other disciplines

  • Additional, specific instructions are given for new, difficult, or unusual assignments.

  • In consultation with manager, develops deadlines, projects, and work to be done

  • Supervisor reviews detailed check for adequacy and conformance with practice and policy

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED plus equivalent work experience in engineering or oil and gas environment (8 years) or Associates Degree in related field. Minimum 3 years audit experience (oil & gas industry required)

  • Technical certifications / accreditations in inspection / NDE / code activities at minimal level II

  • NACE Coating Inspection Certification is required

  • Current or prior pipeline experience is required

  • Fully conversant with ISO 9001 standard and administrative, operational, systems and management controls

  • Comprehensive understanding of economic conditions affecting the assignment (cost, margins, profit impact of decision) and external factors affecting the project/business

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products

  • Persistent and inquisitive in the pursuit of information; obtains all relevant facts

  • Applies basic knowledge of Company / Project operations, policies and procedures

  • Basic understanding of trends affecting the assignment

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with good vocabulary and grammar. Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage all aspects of executing an audit including planning, performing test work, communicating results and recommending changes to processes / procedures improving overall execution of the project

  • Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one situations. Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management, both internal and external

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential or sensitive information or issues

  • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted)

  • Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures

  • Interfaces with multiple disciplines including project engineering staff

  • Confers with engineers, managers, customers, and others to discuss project, prepare documents, or modify schedules.

  • Facilitates effective communication between the various disciplines

  • Often required to persuade individuals with differing opinions or interest to change criteria or methods, accept findings or reach agreement on technical points

  • Spends 100% of time in the field and traveling. Field assignments may require exposure to noise, fumes, and adverse weather conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods to perform work. Frequently required to repeatedly bend, stoop and lift up to fifty pounds

  • Regularly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear

  • May also be required to walk, kneel and crouch

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus

Reports to Distribution Project Management Supervisor and performs duties in compliance with company and department procedures. Essential Functions: * Field check work in connection with construction of the distribution system associated with URD, DDP, Lighting and Road Widening/Major Relocation Projects. * Inspect new construction and assure that all work is performed in accordance with Company standards, procedures, and safe work practices and in compliance with government regulations. * Field check street repairs and other restoration work resulting from project work for quality. * Visit job sites to assure that the construction work is being performed according to plans, to discuss any problems that may occur and to check the quality and quantity of work being performed by our employees and contractor(s). * Communicating with Quality Assurance Coordinator and Contractors to maintain good relations to assure satisfaction with construction progress. * Counsel with supervisor and management on all pertinent matters related to construction * Field check proposed job sites to coordinate activities with city, county or state improvement projects, other utilities, and customers to avoid conflicts. * Remain current with new practices, new tools or equipment, new materials, and new techniques by attending operational meetings and reading various publications. * Must demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company's Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures, and take all required training courses. * Must Demonstrate respect for all Individuals and adhere to the Company's values and business practices. * Able to effectively work through Quality Assurance database by scheduling and documenting timely inspections of projects.
