An Exciting New CAREER

As part of your onboarding as a Construction QA, youll spend some time with one of our pipe crews. Youll gain some great insight into the work we do. Plus, youll start building relationships with our crews and team members.

Youll be the main point person for the continuing evolution of our proprietary quality process. And youll get to see the impact that these improvements have on the business and be part of the success!

At Petticoat-Schmitt, we work together to build life-changing infrastructure. Our work includes construction services for public works, water resources, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), and site development. Our focus on professionalism, communication, safety, and timeliness has made Petticoat-Schmitt the Southeast's most respected civil contractor.

As a Construction QA, you will report to our VP of Safety, Quality, & Efficiency, who put the original process in place.

Responsibilities of the Construction QA at Petticoat-Schmitt

In this role, youll be responsible for overall quality assurance, making sure all quality assurance and quality control systems are in place and being followed.

  • Each Team Member Knows Their Role & Responsibility: Youll make sure that everyone clearly understands the part they play in contributing to our high quality standards. Team members are fully utilizing quality control systems throughout all phases of a project.

  • Verifying Process Adherence: Youll spend much of your time out in the field on job sites. When checking on the work, youll have conversations with the crew to ascertain whether the correct steps and procedures are being followed.

  • Wrapping Arms around the Data: By capturing and monitoring data throughout the process, you identify and track trends, failures, and deficiencies.

  • Coaching Up Quality: By building good relationships with our crews and team members, youll work closely with them to identify gaps in training or understanding. Youll problem-solve with them to help them improve. Youll make sure foremen and superintendents are overseeing quality correctly and provide additional guidance to them when needed.

  • Continuous Improvement: When you see something missing thats needed in the process, youll identify what is needed to help us raise the bar even higher. Youre responsible for not just the process as it exists today, but what it could and should be for the future.

Measuring Success in Quality Control

The success of our Construction QA is primarily measured in the following ways:

  • Improved Quality Control Compliance: Team members are performing quality inspections correctly at all points throughout the process.

  • Reduced Rework: Work will be done right, the first time, according to our high quality standards.

Requirements for the Construction QA Position at Petticoat-Schmitt:

  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance and/or quality control

  • Experience in developing and refining quality assurance and quality control processes

  • Strong communication skills with all types of team members and leadership

  • Construction background is a plus!

Details About the Opportunity

Petticoat-Schmitt offers an exciting and challenging work environment, competitive salaries, and benefits. If you join our team, you can look forward to:

  • $80,000 to $85,000 Annual Salary (depending on experience)
