Construction Project Specialist

Designs, inspects, supervises and coordinates contract construction projects as they relate to road and bridge through annual contractual roadway resurfacing, pathway installation, traffic signal/park facility construction or intersection improvement projects. Interprets construction sketches/blueprints; coordinates construction activities with private engineers to ensure compliance with all applicable state and local regulatory specifications and codes, Palm Beach County standards and approved contractual plans/specifications; notifies management of any possibility of error/deviation from good construction practices; supervises subordinate personnel. Work is reviewed through construction reports and periodic on-site evaluation of projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of six (6) years of construction project supervision experience in skilled road, bridge, drainage, traffic signal or underground distribution and collection systems work that includes two (2) years of experience in each of the following:

• Performing cost feasibility reports

• Assessing work to provide cost estimates

• Working with contractual services

• Establishing grades through the use of survey levels

• Performing drafting and design work

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE WITH: Field construction layout/survey work; concrete sidewalk/curb/drainage structure construction; contractual services in asphalt resurfacing/pathway construction. Also desirable: Knowledge of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) index/related Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements (must specify on application); Worksite Traffic Supervisor/Asphalt Technology and Pavement Engineering Certification.

Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
