What You Will Be Doing

Core Duties:

  • Establish and defines project scope, budget and schedule to assure common agreement with the Client as to the expectations for the project.

  • Bid the project to subcontractors, vet subcontractor bids to assure completeness of subcontractor scope, negotiate subcontracts to achieve optimal value. Oversee a timely buy-out of all materials/vendors for project.

  • Meet the financial objectives of the project by managing the project budget throughout the project lifecycle. Maintaining consistency between budgeted costs and actual costs and assuring the profitability of the project.

  • Manages pay application process to ensure accurate and timely submissions to client.

  • Identifies and manages risk on the project. Advises Business Unit Leader prior to implementing risk mitigation actions.

  • Ensures workplace health and safety policies and procedures (QA/QC) are clearly communicated and understood by entire project team.

  • Manage the project schedule throughout the project lifecycle maintaining consistency between the projected and actual schedules, and driving the necessary corrections where the progress of the project diverges from the original schedule.

  • Responsible for overseeing all project documentation including subcontracts, schedules, budgets, change orders, meeting minutes, submittals, RFIs, etc.

  • Manage project communications to maintain clear and timely responses so that all members of the project team Client, subcontractors, the design team, field staff, administrative staff, and all others involved in the project fully understand the total project expectations and what is necessary to meet said objectives.

  • Proactively manages the training and professional development of the Superintendent, Project Engineer and Project Coordinator.

  • Participates in preparation and negotiation of owner contracts and ensures delivery and adherence to contractual requirements.

  • Oversees orderly project closeout efforts, organization of project documentation and coordination of warranty work.

  • Manages Client relations and customer service by maintaining a consistent line of communication with Client. Being proactive by responding succinctly and decisively to all requests of the Client, changes or variances of scope of work on the job and any issues that you foresee coming up on a project. Represents the clients best interests at all times.

  • Supports and participates in business development and marketing efforts including the preparation of proposals and presentations for new work and active participation in the business community.

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and in differing stages of work each with the same level of commitment to success.
    What You Need for this Position

Job Requirements:

  • Microsoft Office Proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Scheduling Software Proficiency ( Project, P3, P6)

  • MasterBuilder Software preferred

  • Procore Software preferred

  • Advanced understanding of project plans and specifications

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (internal and external)

  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Ability to effectively manage and direct employees

  • Knowledge of OSHPD standards and requirements strongly preferred

Your Opportunity The PM/CM is responsible to ensure the work is completed on time, on budget, and in accordance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements. Monitoring the day-to-day construction management activities while supporting the Contractors management team, the PM/CM supports project execution objectives. Acting as the primary liaison between the Contractor and CMI Team for construction, cost, and schedule issues, the PM/CM will support the Contractor to ensure that the technical requirements of the project are understood and achieved. We are looking to fill this position for opportunities in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Ontario. Your Key Responsibilities * Developing and promoting a site culture of safety, environmental, quality and regulatory compliance. * Supporting product realization and productivity by establishing a collective and inclusive CMI and Contractor dynamic. * Lead and/or facilitate kick off, progress, environmental, safety, quality, socioeconomic, and other meetings. * Interact with Contractor construction management team on a daily basis to proactively address issues and overcome challenges. * Identify, communicate, and document project risks in the risk register. * Work with the project costing group to ensure project controls are in place for cost and schedule. * Monitor Contractor and CMI team performance and identify opportunities for improvement. * Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly Construction progress reports as required. * Participate in schedule and milestone development and tracking. * Participate in the review of contractor schedules (this includes "look ahead scheduling" with the contractor to ensure overall project schedules are met). * Ensure the Contractor and CMI team are supporting the overall project objectives. * Identify and communicate social risks to the site security lead. * Ensure construction deficiency lists and/or punchlists are generated and plans prepared to address deficiencies. * Support commissioning and turnover to operations. * Support project close out including claims resolution and lessons learned. * Lead/facilitate construction kick off meetings with all contractors and internal stakeholders ensuring proper documented exchange of information and documented safety orientation. Your Capabilities and Credentials * API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector Certification required for all pipeline positions, this is not a requirement when working on pumping stations or terminals. * Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills. * Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information to a variety of audiences. * Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation. * Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. * Advanced skills in use of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite. Education and Experience Post-secondary and/or 15-20 years industry experience equivalent. Minimum of 10 years of industry experience on Major Project in a leadership role. High school & post-secondary education (preferred). Position will work in office and field setting. Visits construction sites and works in outside weather conditions.
