POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Project Engineer (PE) enhances our construction project team with the skills of a business manager with the technical know-how of an engineer. The PE serves as a liaison between the client, the construction project manager and subcontractors to make sure a construction project proceeds safely, accurately and smoothly. Project Engineers are the go-to people who make a construction project work. Project Engineers review the plans and financial projections for the job to be sure that they are accurate and reasonable. PEs create project schedules and work with contractors to ensure the work is done properly and on time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
PRE-CONSTRUCTION
Assist in soliciting subcontractors, creating bid lists as needed
Assist Project Manager with permit paperwork and procurement
Set up job site logistics to include dumpster delivery, Field Office coordination, Portable Toilets, etc.
Assist in qualifying and releasing Subcontractors
Assist in the assembly of subcontractor Scopes of Work
PROJECT AND SYSTEM MANAGEMENT
Manage commitments in Project Management Software to include: Prime Contracts, Subcontractor/Vendor Contracts, Purchase Orders, Owner and Subcontractor Change Orders
Track all documentation for compliance with in CMIC to show final approval and execution to include: Prime Contracts, Subcontracts, Certificates of Insurance, W9's, Purchase Orders, Owner and Subcontractor Change Orders
Receive, review, submit and track subcontractor/vendor submittals, shop drawings and Requests for Information
Establish and maintain within Procore project logs to include: Procurement log, RFI log, Submittal log, Safety log, etc.
Ensure timely distribution to field Site Superintendent of all documentation from the office, such as approved submittals and physical Samples, updated drawings, etc.
Maintain construction documents for each project and forward all changes to the Subcontractors and the Site Superintendent
Identify and track critical material lead times to ensure a timely delivery date
Assist in establishing critical path (logic and durations) for the master schedule
Track material deliveries
Assist in resolving onsite safety issues if required
Assist Site Superintendent to demobilize the construction site
Develop, maintain and distribute meeting agendas and minutes
Attend any onsite meetings that may be required to maintain meeting minutes
Responsible for compiling project Close-Out package to include: Warranty letters, O&M's, As-Builts, etc.
Assist in the assembly and review of Pay Applications, as required
Assist in obtaining required Certificate of Occupancy and any other applicable approvals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
BS/BA in Architecture, Construction Management or related field
Knowledge of basic building design and construction systems
Ability to read construction documents and specification manuals
Ability to compile and analyze data
Strong organizational and writing/speaking skills
PREFERRED:
Minimum of 2 years experience in commercial and/or industrial construction environments
Experience supporting projects ranging from $50K - $10M (+) contracts in the commercial, restaurant, retail, healthcare and/or industrial construction environments
Knowledge of construction estimating and procurement processes
Willingness to grow into a leader and member of a dedicated team
Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in working with computers and other types of technology.
Desired Computer Applications Experience: Microsoft Office Applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Procore, Bluebeam and Microsoft Project
Availability to travel as needed

DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
Defined as timeliness of distribution and follow up in project documentation management - permit, contracts, change orders and close outs.
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
Measured by effective subcontractor management and relationship with superintendent and Project Manager
SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT
Defined as timely processing of change orders and timely distribution and execution of project close out and punch list.
