Enviva is seeking a Construction Procurement Lead for the capital expansion projects. The Capital Project Procurement Specialist will be responsible for successfully executing procurement activities for the capital projects as well as negotiating contracts and services.

  • Provides leadership and support in planning, organizing and controlling the procurement of capital equipment and services for expansion projects; implements and follows auditable procedures consistent with accounting protocols; and reconciles purchases on a weekly basis with Project Manager and Project Controller.

  • Oversees the cost-effective procurement of capital equipment, and construction services for the projects.

  • Identifies and implements various cost savings strategies and strives for a high degree of standardization of processes, products, and systems; preserves Company cashflow and seeks aggressive terms to optimize Company ROE.

  • Leads competitive bid and contracting process for major equipment and service contracts.

  • Manages the vendor qualification process.

  • Participates in or directly negotiates contracts and ensures compliance with contracts for products and/or services; maintains form contracts, Terms & Conditions; collaborates with Project Manager and Corporate Counsel on unique conditions and/or situations.

  • Works closely with each Project Manager to insure decisions support the project and consistent across projects.

  • Manages the approval process for purchasing documents, ensures proper approvals and archives approvals.

  • Negotiates multi-year mechanical warranties, liquid damages, payment terms, and two-year performance warranties.

  • Expedites deliveries of equipment and services to compliment project completion schedule.

  • Manage the change order process, participating in or directly negotiating change orders or disputes of contract obligations, collaborates with Contract Managers and Corporate counsel on unique conditions and/or situations.

  • Negotiate and track back charges from suppliers.

  • Develop and submit monthly and weekly procurement reports to the operations team and project controls.

  • Develop and document contract close out packages detailing all supplier obligations are met, warranties are in effect, supplier documentation is completed, all Enviva and supplier claims are settled, and final invoice is ready to be paid.

  • Ensures delivery of contract documents and documentation and verifies compliance with the contract (certificates of insurance, letters of credit, delivery notices, test completion certificates, final acceptance sign-off).

  • Organizes and retains computer and hard copies of all documents in proper locations.

Requirements

  • BS in Business or a related degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience.

  • Documented and proven experience managing and leading a large procurement effort ($ value and pieces of equipment) for major industrial construction projects preferably wood/paper or energy sector.

  • Knowledge of supply chain and materials management principles specific to engineering and construction projects is required.

  • Knowledge and experience drafting and negotiating complex equipment and service contracts, change orders, back charges and dispute resolution.

  • Experience in establishing work processes, quality, and productivity standards and policies/procedures designed to ensure optimal procurement performance. Knowledge of standard accounting processes and procedures with a willingness to integrate and develop new company procedures.

  • Knowledge of products and equipment, inventory sources, and alternate sources of supply, procurement, contract negotiation administration and new/emerging trends in the procurement industry is strongly preferred; large collection of industry contacts and procurement industry network.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excel and accounting software experience is important.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, organizational and team-building skills and effective negotiation skills.

This manager will plan, organize, and control all activities related to the procurement function including supplier and contract management; will develop annual procurement plans by working with corporate leaders to identify strategic categories; and will ensure an efficient and effective procurement process which reliably meets stakeholder requirements and drive down cost of corporate operations. * Assist the Director to develop, implement and continuously improve a best-in-class strategic procurement organization and all respective strategic processes as the champion for the corporate area * Ensure execution of all common procurement strategies including strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract management in coordination with other corporate functions * Plan, organize and execute all sourcing activities related to the procurement function and participate in procurement process and systems implementation and continuous improvement * Evaluate spend categories to determine priority, definition, and parameters of commodities * Determine areas for strategic sourcing of equipment, supplies, and services with corporate stakeholders * Create procurement category plans and ensure adequate strategy implementation * Gather and evaluate market information concerning vendor practices and benchmark with others in the industry * Guide structured review of vendor industry, economics, and market conditions * Establish vendor selection criteria; review vendor responses, contracts, bids, proposals, agreements, purchase orders and contract claims * Execute opportunities timely and report value and savings achieved. * Develop vendor performance standards and measurements * Assist organization to adopt decisions regarding sourcing and transactional processes, policies, strategies, and projects Requirements The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 yeats successful experience in procurement of corporate spending categories. * Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is desirable * Direct hands-on experience in sourcing information technology, telecom, employee benefits, facility/property management, audit/consulting, legal, print, and travel * Demonstrated success in all areas of procurement management including financial modeling and analyses, cross-functional collaboration, business acumen and the ability to drive sourcing and leverage procurement Technology * Demonstrated cross-functional team leadership and change management leadership * Demonstrated ability to gain company-wide support for center-led initiatives * Ability to conduct a high level of qualitative and quantitative research, analysis and synthesis * Best practices knowledge and strong experience with strategic sourcing, procurement, and contracting * Excellent communication and negotiation skills * Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or other professional procurement accreditation highly desirable (or a plus) This is an individual contributor leader driving adn executing the corporate procurement activities and will be expected to achieve value adn savings targets in the corporate spend area.
