Job Summary:

We are currently searching for a Construction Observation and Laborer on a new Senior Living project getting ready to begin in May/June 2019 in Pratt, Kansas. This position will work at the project location for the duration of the project which is anticipated to be around 15 months (60 weeks).

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in maintaining an organized and clean construction site hauling debris and cleaning up all areas of responsibility.

  • Take pictures and keep notes to send off a weekly inspection report. This information will be sent via email to the Project Development Office in Columbia, Mo.

  • This individual will need to have the ability to perform these tasks on a construction site that will be changing constantly and will need to understand how to gather the necessary information, while also maintaining proper safety measures.

  • This project is under the responsibility of a General Contractor who will be overseeing all aspects of construction during the course of the project. The laborer will pass on any issues promptly to the Project Development Office regarding maintenance, effectiveness, or necessary repairs so they can coordinate this with the General Contractor's site superintendent.

Successful candidates will have above average interpersonal skills and must have the ability to pay attention to detail and to safely work on an ever changing construction environment. The position will provide a supporting role to the Project Development office on the general oversight of this project as it moves forward.

Work Environment

  • This individual will need to have the ability to perform these tasks on a construction site that will be changing constantly

  • Will need to understand how to gather the necessary information, while also maintaining proper safety measures.

  • Write letters and memos sometimes.

  • Work with others as part of a team.

  • Have face-to-face conversations with people daily.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This individual will need to have the ability to perform these tasks on a construction site that will be changing constantly and will need to understand how to gather the necessary information, while also maintaining proper safety measures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl.

  • Will need proper steel toe boots

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is part time with the expectation of lasting 15 months (60 weeks), there may be some amendments to this schedule as the project manager sees fit. Part-time (20 hours per week, M-F)

Travel

Travel to and from construction site on a weekly basis.


Qualifications/ Education/Experience/

Skills:
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Experience in working in a construction environment

  • Ability to send communications via phone and email

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to perform the above described tasks with a high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to write, speak and interact clearly and professionally

  • Extremely organized. Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills

  • Can handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality

  • Position requires a considerable amount of standing, walking, lifting, shoveling, and moving of materials.
