Responsibilities

  • The qualified candidate will work safely to observe and document construction activities in a daily report, and sample and test construction materials, including soil, aggregate, concrete and other items as needed.

  • Assistance in the laboratory may be requested.

  • Work can be physically demanding and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Immediate need for technician to observe installation of auger-cast piles and collect samples for laboratory testing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adequately document activities and observations in writing are required.

  • Basic computer skills required, including knowledge of MS office programs including Word and Excel.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • ACI Field Testing Technician Grade 1

Opportunity TRC is currently seeking an Office Engineer (OE) for Mission Viejo/Laguna Niguel area. The OE is committed to making certain that the project moves smoothly, ensuring teamwork, efficiency, and clear communication with project team members including Contractors, Agencies, and staff. The OE has full authority, in matters of safety related to imminent hazard or danger. Responsibilities: * Ensuring project documentation is processed in timely manner and is retrievable * Provides direction to and supervises office technician(s) and/or other administrative staff * Manages and maintains pertinent contract documents and references specific to the project * Develops and maintains an organized and complete set of records and procedures for the project * Timely processing of all documents and work logs including but not limited to weekly statement of working days, submittals for review, information requests, change orders, payments, payment estimates, and project contingency balances * Monitors labor compliance * Monitors and schedules all necessary construction staking/surveys, field and material inspections and preliminary, acceptance, and specialty testing as required throughout the contract * Maintains the as-built drawings for change order updates and assists project lead in ensuring field staff updates as-built drawings as required * Assists the project lead in preparing final project closeout documents, including the resolution of potential claims Qualifications: * Bachelors in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of construction experience, supervisory experience a plus * Minimum of 3 years of relevant construction inspection and management experience on highway construction projects. * Knowledge of construction practices, physical characteristics and properties of highway construction inspection, and the approved methods and equipment used in performing physical inspections. * Ability to work independently and perform inspection duties in the construction field office. * Ability to effectively make minor decision concerning work in progress and solving field and office problems * Caltrans oversight projects required. * Ability and experience with review of Critical Path Method (CPM) baseline schedule including updates and revisions. * Equipment used for inspection, surveying, and construction office engineering management Computers, computer applications, and computer software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) EOE Minorities/Females/Protected Veterans/Disabled #LI-EL1 TRC Companies, Inc.
