What You'll Do

As a Construction Materials Senior Project Manager, you have strong leadership skills as well as a great eye for detail. You are heavily skilled both out in the field and working with clients. Leading your team by example is second nature to you through excellent assessments, studies, and reports. You have a passion for all things construction materials testing reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, soils testing, masonry, and structural steel. You are extremely hard working and strive to ensure that your team delivers the best quality. You will be part of a dynamic, growing, and energized team - and your role is key to the success of ECS. While your job duties may fluctuate day to day, here are some areas we expect to see you proficient in:

  • Managing CMT services

  • Managing budget proposals and invoices

  • Reviewing field and concrete break reports daily

  • Taking the lead in business development and marketing

  • Overseeing project managers and technicians

  • Mentoring and managing junior and senior field and laboratory staff

  • Working on CMT field and laboratory projects in the local market

  • Attending local business development events

What We're Looking For

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university; MS in Civil Engineering preferred

  • 10+ years of experience in Construction Materials Consulting

  • Advanced certifications and/or Professional Engineer (PE) registration would go a long way

Essential Responsibilities * Develop, lead and manage multiple construction and renovation projects simultaneously. * Oversee performance of all trade contractors and review architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed. * Ensure all construction is in compliance with design specifications, completed on schedule, within budget and built to quality standards. * Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses. * Correct any safety violations or other reported deficiencies. * Manage all aspects of capital projects including: Plan and determine appropriate scope and budget; Ensure scope and plans are adhered to; Maintain and meet schedules; Monitor progress and costs; Review and approve change orders; Meet deadlines; Obtain lien releases; Process draw requests, reimbursement submissions and project closeouts. * Facilitate communications with Contractor, Architect/Engineer, and Stakeholders. * Conduct detailed weekly reporting with photo documentation, progress meetings, tracking permits using project management software and Excel. Position Requirements Education and Experience * BS/BA in Construction Management or Engineering (Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, Structural, etc). * Minimum of 5 years related experience is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Skilled in reading and interpreting plans and specifications. * Strong leadership, organization, and negotiation skills. * Knowledge / experience with construction management software, design software, autocad, etc. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Self-motivated to take charge and assume responsibility. * Ability to work both independently or in a team environment. Travel Requirements * Extensive airline and automobile travel required. * 75% travel time.
