Responsible for directing, planning and managing construction project(s) on job site with projects to be completed ahead of schedule, within budget and in compliance with Company safety and procedural policies. The duties of a Construction Manager Substation/Transmission will vary by client and project size with varying degrees of responsibility and authority.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Must be able to perform all the duties required of a Level II Superintendent & Construction Manager II
Indirectly supervise up to 100 or more non-supervisory employees
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Ability to negotiate Change Orders
Ability to study project cost indexes and change/adapt to benefit the project
Keep records in a systematic, well-organized fashion
Monitor and maintain all required paperwork for entire job
Make key decisions in a well-thought-out manner
Ensure schedules are maintained accurately to measure time, production to meet timelines and requirements
Ensure project is completed by deadline date
Study, communicate, and improve on productivity analysis provided by Project Manager
Maintain and enforce discipline throughout the jobsite
Maintain a professional appearance
Must be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form to large employee groups, owners or engineers
Interview, hire and train direct reports, plan, assign and direct work, appraise performance; reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems Other duties as assigned

Ensure subcontractors provide a safe work environment to achieve a goal of ZERO incidents.
Candidate will be expected to take the lead on the Substation/T-Line activities. This would include overseeing the subcontractor and making sure that the material has been inventoried and properly turned over to them. Also looking ahead on upcoming activities to mitigate any delays to the subcontractor.
Candidate will play an active role in the Quality aspect of Substation/T-Line. Teach/Coach Field Engineer that is assigned to this portion to work. Candidate will verify everything is installed per the IFC Drawings.
Review and actively engage in the Benchmark process to make sure that all items are getting addressed.
Manage the Subcontractor to facilitate an environment for all employees to work in a respectful, constructive, and positive environment.
Work with CM III to ensure Customers expectations are being met per the Agreement and Scope of Work.
Construct the project and work with the management team to maximize profit of the project.
Wanzek expects Candidate in the field more than in the office, verifying that all construction activities are installed per the IFC Drawings.
Candidate is responsible for holding the Master set of Red-lines for the Substation/T-Line and updating weekly.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Construction Management, Engineering or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years' experience/knowledge in a supervisory role
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
Ability to organize, instruct and supervise a construction crew in all facets of construction
Ability to estimate
Considerable knowledge of all construction tools, machinery methods and procedures
Must be able to forecast and monitor costs of project
Understanding of construction methods, scheduling and blueprint reading
Ability to demonstrate leadership, motivate workers and communicate with both workers and superiors is essential
Computer literate in Microsoft office E-mail, Internet, all Wanzek forms, Excel spread sheets, all documents, photos and field time entry
Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Ability to calculate figures and to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math
