As a Construction Loan Underwriter your primary objective is to underwrite residential construction and land loans and assist Construction Loan Officers on all construction mortgage loan files from applicationtofunding.
Responsibilities
Risk management; with limited direction review and underwrite residential construction loans to determine whether they fit credit union, mortgage insurance and other 3rd party guidelines. Approving loans within assigned limits.
Manage construction loan files including builder plans and specs, resumes, builder experience, etc. May include processing construction loans, ensuring all required documentation is in the file and accurate. Send all required disclosures following RESPA and Fair Lending requirements.
Troubleshoot and help work out problems with the building projects. Assist Construction Loan Officers with obtaining necessary required items prior to closing. Process denied and withdrawn construction loan applications.
Assist with various construction loan duties as required. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. Requires at least 1 year of loan underwriting experience, construction experience being preferred.
Excellent communication and people skills with an eye for detail. Have the ability to work under pressure and multi-task in an organized manner.
Must take pride in department by processing loans in a timely and efficient manner with a high attention to detail. Must be professional and courteous in manner, with a focus on attendance, quality and quantity of work performed. Must be willing to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act as implemented by Idaho Central Credit Union.
Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, collating, typing, counting cash, etc.). Sit for extended periods of time. Lift 20-40 pounds of office supplies (copy paper, computer paper, mail, etc.). Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, and fingers.
Reach keyboards. Ability to operate basic office machines (calculator, computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, etc.).
Must be eligible for membership at Idaho Central Credit Union to obtain employment.
