We are looking for a team player! Candidates should be diligent, hardworking and have a positive attitude. This position will require frequent travel, with a team, to various events and client sites. Candidates from a Carpentry, Construction, Scaffolding or Events background would be advantageous. The employee will be required to drive company vehicles; but, with the understading that thier main duties are in consutrction and labor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the safe and efficient installation/removal of equipment in accordance with project specific plans and layouts
  • Inspecting all scaffold components prior to assembly
  • Build and breakdown scaffolds, install ladders, walkways and handrails
  • Clean and prepare construction sites, including removing debris and materials
  • Load and unload equipment and materials form truck and vehicles
  • Study plans and equipment lists prior to on-site installation
  • Ensure appropriate safety measures are followed; including wearing and use of safety equipment
  • Maintain fall protection requirements while erecting / dismantling scaffolds
  • Make sure that tools and equipment are cleaned and maintained properly at the end of each shift
  • Ensure full client satisfaction in relation to the quality of service and finished product within planned time schedules
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

Travel:

  • Frequent travel in the US
  • 50% to 90% on the road

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage: Based on experience
  • Potential for Overtime
  • Per-diem: When travelling
  • Lodging expenses are paid for by the company when travelling

Required education:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Trades school or apprenticeship education preferred

Requirements:

  • Background check and drug screening required
  • Valid driver's license required, with a good driving record; and, no DUIs/ DWIs in the last 5 years
  • Familiar with basic hand tools
  • Cannot be afraid of heights
  • Creative problem solver with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized and highly detailed
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team setting to achieve company goals
  • Able to lift-up to 75Ibs
  • Candidate should read and understand basic safety instructions
  • Must be capable of working overtime
  • Preferred but not required: Bi-lingual (English/ Spanish)
  • Preferred but not required: Valid US Passport for potential overseas travel

Provides expert assistance and advice to consultants, professional and technical support staff in the areas of building plan review, quality assurance, project/construction management, construction inspection, construction materials, grading, parks and recreation facility development, fire and life safety and related building and safety programs. REVISED TO REFLECT A CLOSING DATE OF OCTOBER 22, 2019 This examination will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by the Office of Human Resources. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, project construction management, or a related field AND 3 years of full-time experience in building or parks design. One (1) year of project or construction management experience is also required and may or may not be concurrent to the three (3) years of required building or parks design experience. Additional full time building or park design experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two (2) years. Reviews work of contractors, consultants and staff. Reviews and approves project schedules, schedule of values, change orders, payment requisitions and tracks and document project costs. Reviews and examines plans, job specifications and related documents; assure that contracted work is in compliance with approved schedules, contract requirements, codes, ordinances and regulations, permits and County plans, specifications and standards. Administers contracts with and confers with architects, engineers and construction contractors; schedules projects; provides technical oversight, inspects and reviews work in progress. Conducts pre-bid/construction conferences and project progress meetings. Confers with developers, engineers, architects, contractors, property owners and others to explain codes, regulations and procedures. Provides project management from conception to completion on building and park construction or renovation projects. Reviews field conditions as they relate to project documents; recommend solutions. Monitors developments in the construction field. Identifies needed changes to construction plans and details; evaluates alternatives and makes effective recommendations. Maintains liaison with other County departments; client staff, contractors; vendors; various outside agencies, including utility, governmental agency and County departmental staff. Directs the maintenance of and maintains accurate records and files and prepares a variety of periodic and special reports and correspondence. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
