Opportunity:

If you are experienced with the inspection of large construction projects, Parsons has an opportunity for you! We are currently seeking a motivated professional to serve as a Construction Inspector. Parsons is known for delivering large and complex projects within budget and to the highest quality standards, and we could use your skills to help us maintain our excellent reputation.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of related construction inspection experience, as well as formal certification from an independent organization, depending on type of inspection assignment.

  • Mechanical inspection experience.

  • Certificate in OSHA Permit-Required Confined space entry.

  • Construction safety training, including CalOSHA 10 hour training, is preferred.

  • Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications, be totally familiar with construction-related processes related to area of assignment, and have the potential to perform in a lead capacity.

  • Capability of performing math calculations in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs, and charts.

  • Proficiency with basic computer usage, extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project Management Software and internet search engines (like Google or equivalent) required. Ability to comply with multitude of requirements as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards. Must have thorough understanding of scheduling, and the ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work bills.

  • Must be able to recognize hazardous work conditions and take action if necessary. Ability to use good judgment and work with others is required.

  • Ability to climb ladders, inspect work above ground, and work in confined spaces. Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., lifting materials used for testing of concrete, AC, etc.).

  • 2-year degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience.

Note: If the word "experience" is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements. Special Requirements License Requirement: A valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher, is required prior to appointment to all positions in this class. Certification Requirements: Some positions in this class require incumbents to complete one year of verifiable experience in the appropriate field and, within one year thereafter, to obtain certification from a recognized state, national, or international association, as determined by the County. Any person currently and continuously employed by the County as an inspector, plans examiner or building official, for not less than two years prior to January 1, 1996, is exempt from the certification requirements as outlined above. In addition, persons appointed to this class might be required to complete a minimum of 45 hours of continuing education every three years. The County may determine appropriate providers of continuing education such as community colleges or organizations affiliated with code enforcement. Note: Failure to maintain a valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher and failure to meet the required certification requirements may constitute cause for termination from this class in accordance with Civil Service Rule 11.4.
